Episode 2 just came out! It has given us a lot more information about the characters and the world, but there are still many mysteries to uncover. What does everyone think about the series so far?
More episodes, more mystery it is! I feel like the more I watch, more question pops out in my head… Also, I wonder if those two settings come from actual same time period, or there’s a few years in between.
OP dropped, looks gorgeous…
Guess we have to wait for next week
if those two settings come from actual same time period, or there’s a few years in between.
Have a feeling the scenes with the kids in the walled-off facility takes place pre-collapse
yeah I agree with you but the old lady specified there were monsters out there when she asked and clearly that kid thats drawing has something do with it as well, but also if those scenes take place pre-collapse it wouldnt really add up because monsters didnt appear before the collapse I may be wrong though
Just the 2nd episode and a lot to unpack from this episode also wild in all sort of ways, the first being OP. Honestly it was so amazing that i had to check if its a minute and a half as i felt like i completely missed the chorus. Also kids in the dorm* are sure horny af. RIP to that wheelchair kid because he seems to have been affected by the same thing that got Mikura(?)

The case with the landlady was what i expected, honestly the thought of her feeding the guests to "UWU BUT HE IS MY SON" was ridiculous but her getting cubed seems reasonable [it was really hard to watch knowing it was coming] even if she had some conscience when actual kids stayed at her place. the animation for the whole sequence was brilliant, it took completely in a dark place yet characters were completely visible unlike some other shows. Maru might be my favorite character with how badass he was also he has a link power to get into these monsters and kill them? Honestly this keeps getting more and more interesting. The change in aspect ratio for a brief moment was great.

Amazing paint backgrounds during the 2nd half also Kiruko might seem dumb but she really pays a lot of attention to everything around her, lol Maru didnt waste no time confessing to her and Kiruko reply being a different person inside was a surprise, is the doctor somehow connected with this? Kiruko seemed uncomfortable when his* sister was bought up, so taking the words of that fanboy maybe the sister actually did kill(accidently) him with his body severly damaged that only the brain could be preserved with then swapping it with the sisters body? Honestly hard to completely understand pretty much every character in this show but it does make show more investing. This cut now from the op makes more sense now with how there is an outline but its moving completely different from the body.

Great episode, OP, ED. Action moments get done without unnecessarily dragging it coz "muh fight cool" the comedy is placed in perfect moments as well.

Not a "trans", and "he" is probably not applicable.
Kiruko literally said "I'm a man" I think "he" is pretty applicable here
I dont wanna really go into more detail to refute this. I don't think at this point of a story you can make a conclusion from what the character have said, its rather vague.
ok man lmao. of course you know it's more vague than it lets on, you've read the source. not everyone watching this has read the manga so they're gonna go off the limited information they have. you really gonna hang out in threads where clearly a lot of anime-onlies are participating and refute discussion with nothing else other than "wait for future content"?
I really liked the manga and im interested to see how people react to it.
Instead of writing any spoilers or even giving an opportunity to deduce it, id rather not elaborate and that is the right thing to do.
However, if someone just makes an assumption that is really far off from the apparent it's not really affecting their experience to correct it. Idk to me it seems like people write "So I thought that next thing that happens in LOTR cosmic civilisation of sentient gigantic robots lands to save Bilbo", but I will not recite LOTR plot line to demonstrate that I'm right.
I'd like to stay with the viewers on what they know, instead of what they don't know. When meeting bandits (episode 1) Kiruko literally said "I am a guy too", should have noticed it then, because it was a bit odd for a joke.
Honestly with it dropping at the end of the episode i wouldn't necessarily call Kiruko a trans, it still seems to be shrouded in mystery. Its like saying Onimai is a transgender anime when its regular GB show. I can also get where you're coming from as he genuinely believes that he is a man but without knowing the context behind the whole thing i'll just wait for further episodes.
The more we see of the kids in the weird facility the more questions I have about the world like how come they are seemingly super powered its all so weird and interesting, its giving me serious shinsekai yori vibes and I love it
Kiruko my beloved <3

Okay, I'm just going to come out and say it - this show is absolutely insane, and it is by far and away the best thing that is airing this season at this point. It has managed to so far to hit everything so fantastically out of the park in terms of worldbuilding, character, and mystery, and on top of it all, the show is just like, "Yeah, LGBTQ+ things exist in this universe." Kiruko has, more or less, gender dysphoria, and two of the children in the nursery were kissing and holding hands. Mimihime sends a nude to someone she evidently has feelings for, and Tokio has a lot of pent-up angst that he probably doesn't understand. Honestly, those last things are just a supplement in the grand scheme of its tapestry in terms of appeal. While they may be sequestered in the nursery, the children there are full of realizing their own innate emotioal energy. It therefore seems all the more inevitable that the outside world will arrive for them.
Here's, by the way, an example of subtle worldbuilding - the reason why that woman had all the shampoo bottles was probably because she fed all her guests to the Man-Eater, so she just kept them because they're supplies that make her inn seem all the more alluring for potential guests / food for the Man-Eater. For all we know, they probably CAME from her other guests. Maru and Kiruko also talk about the batteries that they left behind, and debate taking them with them, which was a thing that the story did not need to do, but thank goodness it did.
And all the while, they continue to explore their world with the same kind of off-kilter whack that characterized them in the first place. They're capable but impulsive, smart but stupid, etc. Between the show's many properties (the hormones, the world, the animation, the music, etc), the key word is what I said before - "energy." Everything in this presentation and story is bursting with energy, and I'm kind of in awe every time something like this comes along in the current anime production climate. I honestly would not be surprised if, much like Mob Psycho 100 season three or Healer Girl, production on this show was finished before the first episode aired.
Heavenly Delusion is funny, it is serious, and it has whiplashes that don't feel forced or at the mercy of shock value or padding for the sake of extending the runtime. Both of its environments are gradually building intrigue and disquieting ambiance.
There are definitely some LGB characters in this, though I wouldn't say Kiruko is trans. Elaborating would get into spoilers, so I won't say much. Just be aware that it's not at all like the real-world version. further spoilers: It also wasn't by choice.
This is my guess what I think
I bet it's something like boy was forced into the woman's body for some reason, and being trans is not a choice so by definition they are trans actually, it just isn't exactly in the form you see IRL, btw I am trans so I know what being trans is, and being trans is not a choice, I was forced into into the body I am in too, it wasn't my choice, I am girl that got put into boy's body
I haven't read the original source material, so I obviously won't click the spoiler tag here. But I will say that, given this show's universe, I would not be surprised if there is some kind of darker undercurrent to this that hasn't unveiled itself yet.
Just know that I am DYING to click those tags XD
I love seeing the hype for an anime that only has 53 chapters in manga and...
I just want to see if they will have the courage to put the scene in chapter 32 without censorship, since boobs are very obscene for young people and adults
and I'm not even going to delve into this MC "gender/sex" thing, go and read chapter 53 or wait for adaptation, because opinions are subject to ban o/
I honestly don't know how they will approach that scene because it's pretty hardcore tbh
they will probably censor it, but
I want to see how these people will react to knowing that the mc is raped by her friend (robin), however, it is a man (brain) in her sister's body who was abused, will it still be rape?or just a joke between friends? let's see the circle on fire lol
and IT'S NOT NTR, the MC is not in a relationship with anyone, so if you don't have a relationship, you don't have NTR
although on second thought, I don't think they'll even adapt to this point, but if they do, we'll see the reaction of those who say all excited and hype KEKW
I don't know if "a joke between friends" would be a good description tho xD.
Likewise, I've seen that people have been very "annoyed" by the fact that Kiruko is “a guy in a woman body”, confusing that with the anime being progressive blah blah blah, when it's really something more "elaborate" u know. If they get angry with that, you'll see how they'll react if that scene ends up being animated. That'll we wild xD
yeah, you are right, I also understand that the main fact they are uncomfortable would be:
some thought it would be a trans character or something, but what we have here is just a male character in a female body and not a "gender/sex" debate, that is, it is something we have seen in several animes like ranma 1/2 and the recent ayakashi triangle (I won't remember others, but we have several)
I even thought, imagine people finding mc to be trans, after seeing this scene, will they think it was a rape of a trans person? or after knowing that it is a man in a woman's body, is it no longer rape?
including that scene from epi 1 where the mc tries to kiss himself in the mirror, I understand that it was because of the curiosity of the female body and not because he was "confused about its existence", it's even stupid to see that at no time did he think "but why Am I in someone else's body? Or rather my sister's body?" since he kept the brain, I conclude that he kept his memories...
but I'm almost certain that if the anime adapts to this point, they will delete the scene, well let's wait and see how it unfolds
Wow, I'm really slow at manga.
And now, watching the second episode, I managed to connect the characters and discover the final path that the work will take.
Spoiler:
Simply Maru is the son of Tokio who was taken from paradise, where in the process he was separated from one of his children, Maru's twin brother. The Japanese woman who delivered Maru to Kiruko must be the older Anzu.
New episode, more greatness. The new opening is fantastic, both the song and creative (+ gorgeous) visuals express the nature of this series really well (as far as I can tell at this point). The same goes for the ending: although I'm not too fond of the song, it does a remarkable job at highlighting the calmer, adventurous parts of the series.
While the kids within the “safe house” still don't particularly pique my interest – their existence is presently arguably more fascinating than most of their behavior and characters – their attempts at (subconsciously) learning more about the world they are living in together probably has a large impact on the story later down the line. Throughout the episode, there are also hints at some kind of illness various people in this world, including a child in the safe house and Maru's late mother, suffer from, but that's all the info we got to my knowledge.
The fight which meanwhile ensues in another part of the world is very well-made from a production and writing standpoint, although its finale relied on a rather heavily-used trope. Once again homeless, Maru and Kiruko move on while intentionally leaving their precious batteries behind. While I understand the intention behind their actions, it feels odd considering the frequent life-or-death situations the characters seem to find themselves in.
After a long – and frankly quite humorous – journey, the two finally reach Tomato Heaven, which, although heavily implied by regular in-between shots, turns out to not be the safe house. However, the farm inhabited by other people greatly contributes towards the worldbuilding, showcasing how other survivors live in this post-apocalyptic hellscape. Moreover, we also learn that Maru was ordered to inject someone who looks exactly like him with a drug, despite not knowing its effects or who that person is. As it turns out, Kiruko also has a lookalike, and things just got a lot more interesting. For now, they decide to return to the wrecked Tokyo in search of new clues.
Interestingly enough, this episode also discussed two different LGBTQIA+ topics. Firstly, two girls in the safe house were kissing, which another girl seemed to be confused yet intrigued about. Secondly, Kiruko reveals that she is a man in a woman's body, hinting at a gender transition or homosexuality. Either way, it's remarkable how they managed to integrate these themes so seamlessly, not that it really matters to the plot at this point in the story. At least we got a better grasp on the relationship between the two travelers.
When She Said My Body Is A Female But My Mind Is Male i got what they meant.
The old guy said that she was "A Racer And She Killed Her Brother By Mistake And Stopped Racing"
So Basically The Brother took over her body, so its her body and his mind.
I Think it Makes Sense. Prob They Would Give Us Like A FlashBack To When She Killed Him And She Was Sad
So He Took Over Her Body.
Dont Know I Feel Like Thats Where The Story Is Going In An Unnatural World Like This
I was thinking, are the monsters, failed (or successful?!) experiments for whatever they're trying to achieve in the facility? They're either cloning or making super-powered people. The durability from falling with no injuries, the foresight from that one girl, the cloned/twin? dude from killing the man-eater. I also think the brother lived and his sister died, but he switched bodies into hers... too soon to be theorizing though lmfaooo we'll see
I love that there's no heavy exposition. It's so refreshing to see storytelling like this every once in a while. Question to any manga reader though: why did the duo travel so fast from that farm closer to their destination is it like that in the manga too or is the anime skipping a lot of stuff?
Oh yes the mangas skipping some panels and scenes, transition scenes like them getting off the raft, or them getting on the boat, set-up scenes, little joke lines or banter, etc. It's nothing too major but its worth reading to get a second glance at it and fill in the blanks, since it gives a more slower "SOL" vibe. The author also said he makes the story to encourage re-reading since he rarely ever exposits himself, so there's tons of clues that'll make you hit your head 40 chapters later when tings pieces together bit by bit.
I like it, it's quite mysterious. I do like the animation and art style, it gives a cinematic experience. I'm curious if clones are involved etc. which leads to questions about maneaters, are they failed experiments of cloning (if cloning is a thing or gender bending, etc.)? Also, the OP gives off Naruto vibes, I am digging that a lot!
