Thoughts on Episode 4?
So good, they did such a good job adapting the scenes from sweet today! Can't wait for the reality show arc to begin
that's for sure, you couldn't wait to spoil the series to others, it's going to be such a surprise to see that arc happening now, I'm sooo hyped to know what it is going to happen.
that's not a spoiler you goof, Aqua is asked if he wants to join a reality dating show in this episode...
Yeah, and if you actually pay attention to how he is, its pretty obvious he will take the opportunity
"its pretty obvious he will take the opportunity"
oh yeah, that's pretty obvious, from the same guy who spends his time to change his mind about becoming an actor or not.
I think you need to go back and rewatch some. The director can prove more means of connections with those in the industry. Its not some complex mathematical algorithm or something to figure this out, its pretty simple if you use a little bit of your grey matter
it wouldn't be a surprise if you paid attention.
9:24 - "How'd you like to appear in a reality dating show?"
"it wouldn't be a surprise if you paid attention.
9:24 - "How'd you like to appear in a reality dating show?""
so, yes, I paid attention, but at no moment in the episode 4 it explicitly said "the next arc is going to be a reality TV show".
you could "guess" it, it was even the most possible thing to happen, but it was certanly not a 100% sure thing, especially considering how this is a show with possible plot twists.
but there can't be plot twists if some dumb people just spoil that this is going to happen.
I don't want to know that something that has 99% chance of happening is really going to happen, I want to discover it by myself.
is it too hard to understand ?
I'll give you a simple example with One Piece.
Luffy wants to be the king of pirates by finding the "one piece".
At the end of the series, pretty much everyone is guessing that Luffy is going to find the one piece.
But for now, we don't know, because the show isn't finished yet, maybe we'll get an unexpected ending, maybe not.
But if some guy that read the manga for example tells to the guy that watches the anime 6 months in advance that in fact he did found the one piece, what do you think their reactions would be ?
Sure, some people like you wouldn't care, but then the others who are 6 months late are now spoiled for the rest of the whole series, and considering that the show is like 20+ years long, this is kind of a big deal.
now, in the case of oshi no ko, it may not be a "huge spoiler" or a "huge surprise", but it still spoils me for probably the next whole month.
and considering that I already find the show pretty unsurprising so far, it only helps me hating this show (and its fans) even more.
not reading all of that, the fact that everyone is getting likes against you getting no likes should give you an idea of everyone's opinions about you
It's not because you're several to be wrong that it makes your point right.
a spoil is a spoil, end of the story.
Still good just dunno why but i feel a slight down trend from the initial episode hype
I think it's as the story just doesn't hit as hard as the first twist. I think the season finale might get close and there are certainly moments in season 2, as there probably will be judging by the reception to season 1, that are really good.
You can´t compare film and anime/regular series plotlines. Since in former you just have to build up to a decisive moment towards the end after the viewers watched 1-2hrs into the show. While a series needs to keep their viewers watching and have in those 20-25minutes several other smaller dramatic spikes to keep some sort of tension. Obviously you can´t compare it 1:1 then. You might do it after the whole Series was released, but then its still slightly different. Since Films are tightly packed with emotions, plot and fanfare; but Anime and regular Series have the time to drag the whole story along. What you prefer is probably just taste at that point.
Obviously you can´t keep up with a film production as an Anime. But I don´t think it got worse. The Animation and effects are still detailed for an Anime. The Voice acting is superb. They have kept outro&intro which rocks. Well the dramaturgic composition changed slightly to fit better the roughly 20minute format and I think it still rocks, for example not directly starting at the cliffhanger from Episode 3 to 4 dragging the decisive scene 5 minutes into the show to keep tension was very smart. This way they take away slightly exaggerated expectations after the community had to wait for a week and then they still pulled it off with nice performance. After it going a little bit SOL with a promise that we will see a hell of a dating show in which Arima might get jealous since she developed a crush, a famous actress gets featured and we might get a step closer to the culprit and the sinnner to humanity who is responsible for me crying at episode 1. While still filling it up with a few comedic interludes which keep the flair of an Anime, but don´t feel to over the top which makes it in my eyes a very well balanced, superbly scripted high quality production. If you expect more it must be because you want to see Cinematic Like Film Animation. A SAO Episode also doesn´t match its film productions.
Bruv wrote a thesis but i agree with u. What i meant with down trend wasn't animation or vo related at all i just meant the general peak of emotions. Since episode 1 was such a bomb.
It ain't a thriller. You can't expect all the episodes to be like the first episode. It wouldn't make much sense. I don't understand or even comprehend why people are seeking the other episodes to be like the first one. The road to become an artist is far more complex than portraying an Oedipus Kira and the downfall of Athena.
The first episode was meant to be impactful, it was like Destiny slapping you : the start of everything. It shouldn't happen often, otherwise, it lessens the wanted effect on the audience. I expect such intensity of the first episode to resurface for any event closely related to AI's murder : the identity of the real Father, the truth about AI's lie and the revenge's conclusion.
I ain't going to use the movie format as an excuse, because it is actually not the mean reason - but it was a clever decision to set the premise in stone as soon as possible; the story is called "Oshi no KO". The most impactful moments of the first episode was the doctor's death and AI's death : it was death. Other than these, the rest was contents out for smooth pathing. To recreate such intensity, most the next episodes will be smooth pathing with a touch of spices (spices, because this ain't a SoL) until another Destiny's slap.
You shouldn't be seeking a Destiny's slap so desperately. It is not like he is going to find who is the Father and kill him tomorrow. It's A Journey into the Showbiz and its dark alleys.

that's part of the whole series.
if you're watching a show for the first time and then your friend with you tells you "oh, you're going to enjoy this moment", or tells you things like "don't be too attached to this girl"; then you are spoiled.
"oh, but I didn't spoiled you"
yes you did, that's the same as just saying "this character is going to die".
spoiling about episode 4 on an episode 4 thread is fine, but spoiling the rest isn't.
even if "that's just small details"
if 20 people are telling you "small details", it adds up pretty quickly.
sadly anime rating dropping
I don't see why that's an issue? It's still very highly rated and very few entries can hold on to that 90% rating, especially without being a sequel.
The reason the score's dropping is probably just 'cause more people are rating it, so also more people with critical ratings or who aren't interested in it as much are rating it.

are people not allowed to have contrary opinions on anything anymore? i didn't even get the vibe that they were particularly super bothered about it and they even spoke subjectively.
I generally can’t help but find
the last thing these forums need to be is an echo chamber lol. OP didn't attack anyone or anything, just called it how they viewed it
is it weird that someone doesn't like something you or "most people" like?
Tbh I also do not like it, I do not think it deserves even an 8, the only thing going for it are the visuals and some musical elements, and not all of them are golden standards.
That said, you or other people giving it a high score doesn't/won't make others like it as well, I tried it I didn' like it, simple as that.
It was honestly awesome to see everything played out with voice acting, audio, and lighting. It really gives an emphasis to everything that wasn't found in the manga which I think gives the anime a slight little push ahead. It helps that the production quality is so high, and when we start to get to some of the big twists in the manga, it'll be peak for sure. Aqua's performance was also really, really good. Can't wait for episode 5 ?
Was a bit confused when they just straight up re-used some scenes here and there, but besides that, it was a good episode once again.
Aqua's acting is scarily genuine; immediately portraying the character with complete finesse and ease, despite not really being a professional. Also riling up the main male actor to make his emotion fit the scene of the episode they were shooting was also really smart.
On the other hand, Kana's acting is also very well done here; despite the tears being fake, I could somehow feel that she is in tears of joy seeing what real acting could be on a set (at least that's how i interpret it).
I actually really liked seeing the mangaka and her little team reacting to their anime adaptation and the latest episode. I really love seeing the behind the scenes stuff like this, it just adds that sense of realism and the idea that what we consume as viewers or readers are always done by the work of another person with their own individual ideas and creativity.
Overall, better than the previous episode. We got to see some peeks at some of the other characters that will be coming into play it seems; I hope we get their own development soon like they did with Kana.
#1 Kana Arima best girl, I suppose.
@TheKillerOfRandoms have you watched this yet #my revenge (:
I'm still not to sure how I feel about the show. It has such a creepy vibe, but then also a cutesy one, which I know is the point. I love the art style though, I'll probably keep watching it at the bare minimum just for that. I also have a feeling we've met the father already. I don't know, haven't read the manga but that's my speculation.
