I'm looking for some VN recommendations. It can be any genre. Here are some VNs I've already played to make things a bit easier.
Should I play Higurashi or Umineko first?
Good question! Both are independent stories that stand on their own, so if you don't care that much about getting the best possible experience, it doesn't matter.
Higurashi came first, and Umineko arguably has improvements in the writing department compared to its predecessor. Umineko also has a few easter eggs/references to Higurashi and a couple of things that happen in Higurashi are given much more meaning in Umineko, so if you're interested in reading both, and want to go for the best possible experience, Higurashi should be read first.
fate/stay night
Unless you're a die hard fan, the visual novel is pretty boring. At least, that's how I felt
Gilgamesh was the best part about it. And Zouken
that's certainly an "interesting" take if i've ever seen one
is over the top action the only thing that matters to you? yes? go right ahead and do this
It's an interesting take because I'm into Moege
And I was never interested in Fate to begin with. I enjoy Gilgamesh, Lancer is my favorite character, I love Emiya's personality, Fate route is the best one (to me it is), "Another Heaven" (The new Heaven's Feel Relta nua op) is the best Fate song (anime included), and Zouken & Kotomine have the most ear-pleasing voices.
Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai <-- my first and favorite visual novel
Princess Evangile <-- Very solid, if you like Shomin Sample/Mashiro-iro Symphony
Grisaia no Kajitsu <-- One of the greatest
Sanoba Witch <-- Pretty decent
Bible Black <-- Story is actually pretty decent
Ren'ai Royale <-- it's good
There are a lot of other stuff I've yet to start. Like Ryuusei World Actor, Majikoi, Shuffle, etc.
what is a VN ?
A visual novel (VN) is a form of digital interactive fiction. Visual novels are often associated with the medium of video games, but are not always labeled as such themselves. They combine a textual narrative with static or animated illustrations and a varying degree of interactivity.
It's like a playable book.
Here are some VNs i'm reading at the moment that could be a helpful start :)
Collar x Malice
Ever17
Rose Guns Days
Club Suicide
Starry☆Sky ~After Summer~
I quite enjoyed Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo.
The premise is that you're a participant in a death game where each player has powers that trigger based on conditions that are only known to the user. It's very much like Jojo, in which each encounter you have no idea what abilities to expect.
The solutions to these abilities get pretty creative as well. This is just an example I made up that could fit in the game, but imagine closing your game to interrupt a ritual or chant.
It's around 11 hours long, and my only complaint is that it wasn't longer.
HIII I really enjoyed playing these two games, they're both pretty short !!
This is the first one:
Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk
& This is the second one:
Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk
They're both about the same girl, you play as the voice her medicine creates in her head and both games are about her navigating her life.
The visuals are really cool, and they change in both games. The first game is very much like a visual novel but then the second game has more things you can do.
Hope you enjoy!!!
