Very fun chapter, lots of breathtaking spreads, some real bad-assery and some horrifying imagery towards the end lol. Thankfully, no break next week. Can't wait!
It's getting more and more boring.
What? lol. You cannot be serious. If you say it's because of the extended wait between chapters then that's understandable, but, arc 2 is starting to get more enjoyable than the first.
lmao
Amazing reasoning.
I don't see what's better about Part 2 at all compared to Part 1. it's so aimless in comparison... we are a whopping 33 chapters in and basically nothing of note has happened. it's just Asa and Denji in crazy wacky situations with hardly any meaningful plotting to speak of.
by this point in Part 1 we already had a good grasp of what the main plot would be, we had a solid lineup of characters with unique personalities, and we had at least a couple of decent story developments. there's been basically nothing in Part 2.
the immediate defense is that Part 2 is more "character driven" than Part 1, but the characters aren't nearly interesting enough for that... Asa is an alright protagonist, I guess, but the supporting cast is severely lacking. and it feels like whatever the climax will be isn't being built up to very meaningfully either.
Aimless really isn't a good descriptor, I would say it is more loose than Part 1 so far though. The whole deal with Asa and Yoru's dynamic, Yoru wants revenge against Chainsaw Man and Asa is starting to hesitate with fulfilling that. This is clearly building up and up. It's not like earlier chapters of part 1 were super interesting. International assassins is when things started to get really good. If this is the lowest point of part 2 then it'll definitely surpass part 1 for me.
People expecting everything to be balls to the wall all the time have the wrong image of CSM, there are a lot of quiet moments and those quiet moments are some of the best parts which are equally as important as the intense parts. I can sort of understand why people might be put off by the this chapter after having to wait two weeks, there isn't much in the way of dialogue, but there is still ample story progression through the way of beautiful spreads.
calling part 2 aimless and boring feels criminal. we literally have the main conflict of the war devil and asa, them going up against chainsaw man, then there's the literal apocalypse approaching, a horseman we haven't seen yet that's more powerful than the darkness devil, the whole deal about a primal from hell wanting to see asa/yoru eaten by whatever that thing is, there's the mystery of yoshida, the fake chainsaw man, what will become of nayuta, where are the weapon hybrids now, denji's contract to find the blood devil, etc... sure it's different now because we have asa as a new main character who we met for the first time, so obviously many of the early chapters were spent building her character and we just got to the point that she even has a will to live.
i genuinely find it funny how the anime which adapts the beginning of part 1 is getting this same criticism from anime watchers saying it's boring and nothing happened. then you have manga readers who rightfully defend part 1 against those claims but say the same about part 2. y'all are ridiculous
