As per article 7, paragraph 15 of the constitution of my own mind, I'm required to mention this show whenever the opportunity presents itself, so here it is:
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
It doesn't have just one smart and logical protagonist, but two of them on opposing sides of a massive war. Tbh most of the main characters (and there are lots of them) are pretty smart and it's interesting to see their different leadership styles.
