Action
Drama
Comedy
Romance
Psychological
Comedy is first. I need regular doses of it. Once I have enough comedy, I'm ready to enjoy other kinds of anime. Also, it's fine to mix in other types with comedy. One of my favorite comedies, Ranma 1/2, has action and romance too.
Romance is important. I just resubscribed to VRV to finish Bloom Into You and start Domestic Girlfriend. I've been reading the Domestic Girlfriend manga, as well as Koi to Uso, another romantic manga.
Psychological can be very interesting. I enjoy psychological anime like Kokoro Connect and Flowers of Evil. Bloom Into You has also been fairly psychological.
Action is important. While I don't gravitate toward the shonen anime that are mainly action, I have enjoyed action anime like Ranma 1/2, Ajin: Demi-Human, and The Future Diary.
Finally, drama is important. It may be less well represented in my completed list, but it was the drama anime Your Lie in April that got me seriously interested in anime. Anime is not just good for comedy but for serious storytelling. Drama tends to mix with romance and psychological. So, it's hard to find a pure specimen in my completed list. However, I do tend to watch some of the more serious stuff more slowly. I have sort of been dragging through Gunslinger Girl and Serial Experiments Lain, even though I think both are really good.
