Then the fate fan starts with; "Actually...", and then spends an entire paragraph explaining why King Aurthur not having a dick is a canon event.

okay im stupid, should I watch this or wait for the series? Is this movie like, a prequel to that announced series (like is the series just going to be the film in more detail, a reverse recap) or?

I was going to watch this but not heard of Fate/Strange Fake before so not sure if I'm in the middle of a series or something. Seen most if not all the other fates (maybe not apocropha?)

  I'm not totally sure but I think this is like a prequel to the announced TV series. You should be fine if you've watched any of the Stay Nights and Zero, though I've heard that watching Lord El Melloi will help understand some things.

  The special is a longer pilot episode. It adapts first couple of chapters from the manga. Anime will continue what was started there.

Well the prologue episode sure left us on one hell of a tease so looking forward to this.

A lore question though, is Fate Apocrypha not part of the main canon? Cause obviously we've seen Jack there before (in loli form) and now he's presented as having no form unsure who he is.

  Apocrypha is still the in the same universe/timeline as stay night, UBW, Heavens Feel and Ataraxia. Except the history of the Holy Grail wars were changed up a bit so the 4th Holy Grail war never happened in Fuyuki and nothing bad happens to the OG main cast. Shirou and the Tohsaka's parents don't die, Sakura still gets adopted but by the Edelfelts and not the Matou's so she never gets struggle snuggled by worms or Shinji, etc etc. One bad outcome is Illya never gets born since Kiritsugu doesn't interact with the Einzberns, but IIRC that's about the only bad thing.
  
  The Jack in Apocrypha is just one of the Jack the Ripper's available for summoning since Jack the Ripper's real identity was never found out and anyone who's contributed enough the legend of Jack the Ripper could be summoned as it. Apocrypha Jack is just like 10,000+ wraiths of aborted prostitute babies combined that killed prostitutes in London so it fits the bill as being a "Jack the Ripper".

Not sure what to think about this honestly. Stay night was awesome but I don’t need a Fate 2.0. Has anyone read the light novel and can comment on if the story is any good?
