The zeroth episode was really well done, although I do wish Fitz's identity was revealed later. I realize how hard it would have been to have keep it a secret due to the voice acting and the character design for Fitz/Sylphy
I mean, there no way for them to really hide it... in the novel i was skeptical as to whether its sylphy or not, but with art and voice acting its impossible
:( fair
I havent watched the episode but I feel like the approach to knowing it's Sylph while Rudeus has 0 clue creates tension and suspense and it'll feel so much better when he actually finds out it's her, but like the other guy said it's way to obvious considering voice acting, and it's still pretty obvious if your the reader.
It isn't impossible. They changed her character design from the Novels. If you look at the illustrations in the novels you'll notice she looks way more boyish and you wouldn't really recognize her that well. Also in regards of the voice actor - they could've just chosen a different one and not shown Sylphy speaking with that voice last season.
First episode watched, and more to the point it's episode zero. It's nice that learning with Rudy didn't go to waste and Sylphie can fight and overall is quite strong, which I didn't expect so honestly. The episode was enjoyable, the music was wonderful, I wonder if the song that flew at the end was the music from the opening
glad to see it back however shame the animation in this episode wasn't as good as season 1, buildings in the falling sequence were a bit shoddy and the cgi people.
While I do agree that the art itself wasn't the greatest, as always the attention to detail is what takes the cake in Mushoku Tensei. The buildings in the falling sequence especially were perfect, as we know that the human continent is basically a huge Germany, so the architecture and city planning really does reflect that of a small German town. Even the naming scheme fits so perfectly to medieval Germany, however that's something the author himself did research on, while the buildings were more the job of the animation studio.
the architecture and city planning wasn't that impressive. It was a lot of the same building repeated over and over, it also lacks many of the features you'd see in any city, there's no market or the likes. I would also have loved a shot of the mansion so we got a real sense of how it fits into the local area, the way it is now makes the 2 feel disconected.
Animation looks the same to me.... I think you aren't remembering the first seasons animation correctly.
They changed some semi-important stuff from the LN, it's a shame...
Sylphy breaking her legs during her fall would've hit way better, and she healed herself after the assasination attack in the LNs too, would've ben a lot better if they kept it that way...
They haven't lost the talent.

I really don't get what's up with bind(mainly mushoku tensei) and making characters and only characters really low resolution. Anyone has an explanation? Really noticeable in the only three shots I saved

The soundtrack is amazing. I'm looking forward to the Depressed Magician arc next!
And, @GillianMC, i'm watching on a 55in 4k screen, and it looks fine.
Pretty sure whatever gripe you have, is with the artstyle, and not the actual quality.
(besides, you can always wait the ~20 weeks, and get the BluRay release, to see if it's really "low quality"....)
I watched the bluray release for season 1, it's how they draw, specifically. I might've phrased my question wrong - I was asking what's up with why they draw it like that. It directly reflects to low quality.
Also 55 inch means you're a bit further from screen than I am on my 24 inch. Makes a difference, alright? If it's a TV it might also have in-built upscaling to cover it up - though I don't know if you might've turned that off.
While I admit I read the novels quite a few years ago, I don't think Sylphy's identity as Fitz was revealed to the audience so early on, but that may be under the studio's direction. Voice acting, character design for a visual, and many other visual aspects are extremely difficult to ignore. While we as the audience know her true identity, Rudeus in the anime as of right now doesn't know yet so it will serve for some suspense whenever they meet.
Episode 0 was very well done, and introduces the sequel in a good way, not just instantly continuing on with Rudy's story. While he is our main character, there are so many other characters around his life that are equally as important, so it is good on the studio to tighten the microscope onto these characters.
It definitely wasn't, it has also been a couple years since I read t he novel but if memory serves the reader explicitly learned her identity at the same time Rudeus did (though there were a lot of hints). But hiding it in the anime would've been basically impossible so them revealing it off the bat is fine by me.
How are they all this good at Shadow Clone Jutsu?

And people say that this is the same level of quality as season 1. It's kinda insane how people are this delusional.
If story is still amazing I don't mind
Some have the story: Mushoku Tensei
Some have the animation: Dragon Maid
Some have both: AOT/SNK S1-S3 (so without S4)
I do think the season 1 of Mushoku Tensei had 10/10 Animation, Sound design and Story.
But I will focus on the animation here.
If you look at the season 1 you will see that every background character is different, their clothes faces and accessories, everything (You can easily see they put a lot of elbow grease into it).
In season 2 however they colored everyone's same clothes differently, as a means to diversify the characters (Probably because they are made with CGI as displayed in the image above, this of course takes less effort and in my opinion looks horrible.)
It just sticks out like a sore thumb when you compare season one.
They might've set my expectations too high with season one...
I just hope it's because ep. 0 is an OVA.
Pretty good first episode, so now all the three main girls got their standalone episode without Rudeus.
We are introduced to a bunch of new characters and seems we have a succesion storyline HxH show me that throne sucession storys can be awesome so i'm interested in the fight between Ariel and his brother Baji Keisuke also they seem to have a bunch of brothers but seems they don't matter.
Such a weird special, I mean it's good that we get something how she ended up there but to be it seems like they rushed it as a "final minute" thing or something to release.
Animation was fine, there was weird part at 1 minute 30 second mark where princess jumped, as if they forgot to add key frame for her shifting up.
No point on theorizing if rest of S2 will be same or it'll be as good or better than S1.
For all people that feel like the animation got a huge down grade, ill have to be honest its a 50 50 for me. there are some frames that do look bad and all, but saying that there was no cgi in season 1 is a joke. season 1 had cgi on certain parts such on where Roxy was on her horse, and when they showcase a city from the top view your eyes focus on the buildings and not on the people.
the main difference is that the previous season knew how to hide the bad from our eyes better by showing a lot of good frames. while the new season did it worse in some scenes.
