Comments? I personally liked a lot the style, the angles and the long shots in the beginning, but not everyone did sooo.
Fastest I ever dropped anything in my life. If you like motion sickness then you are gonna love the first 4 minutes, that's as long as I lasted. Moving backgrounds for no reason, unnecessary camera panning (literally every scene), weird animation, ugly CG all in that time.
I didn't get motion sickness, but it did feel like someone was going like "what does this slider/button do?" to test out the new features of the virtual camera system. Directing is supposed to enhance the viewer experience, is this case the angles and everything start to distract from what should be the focus of things.
It does get better further in the episode, but the beginning feels weird. Maybe they had something special in mind, but if so, these intentions don't get conveyed very well...
This was a pretty fun episode. GoHands is notorious for their rather odd camerawork but at the same time I like how ambitious they are with it, even if sometimes the execution misses the mark. Story seems like it'll be wholesome and cute but the fact that she regularly forgets her glasses despite her very poor vision is kinda odd. I think i'll enjoy watching this both for the sugar as well as the animation style
the intimate moments between the two are fine. But everything else is fucking awful. It's one thing to give your mob characters faces, it's another thing to give them a million extra keyframes for their hands to wiggle around for no reason.
It reminds me of the way AI-generated video always have movement from one scene to the next, or automated tweens in flash animations but done to an extreme degree. That combined with the batshit insane camera angles made me want to drop it nearly instantly. The only reason I stuck through the episode and got to enjoy the moments between Mie and Komura were because I've read the manga and liked it.
I hope they ease up on the experimentation and almost visual novel -ish feel to the school and everything else. It's really really bad. Like, in the opening shot when Komura walks up to his desk it looks like his character is doing a walking motion pasted onto a flat static background, it just doesn't look good.
nooo please do not come near meeee I cant let the girl i like touch meee i need to get away from the girl i like aaaaa pleeeaaase you are toooo cloooose!!!!
I can't stand this. I can't fucking believe that every romcom mc has to be the most pathetic, most annoying, most repulsive loser ever. No human in the world would act like this. Japan, forget this trope, I beg you, that's why your fertility rate drops year by year.
Also she didn't even notice the fact that she can't see shit till she got into the classroom? How did she even survive? How did she find her place? Why is her desk in the back of the classroom instead of being close to the table????????
I wasn't even able to watch half of the episode without getting a brain aneurysm. This is unwatchable.
You watch anime, you already fit in that category.
Besides the point I don't know if you've ever liked a girl, but when the girl you like is 10x more prettier than you and is out of your league, yes obviously kids in high-school would act like this, and hell have you ever even been enrolled into a Japanese High-school? I get that it's an anime but unless you've second-hand been inside the mind of a male high-school Japanese student, don't say "THEY WOULDNT ACT LIKE THIS" while drooling and foaming 2 centimeters away from whatever you're typing on.
You know the striking face filter from tiktok definitely embodies this comment, and don't even get me started on the unholy amount of anime you watch and the audacity you have to call out a fictional anime character repulsive.
It's only the first episode and the amount of hate is actually crazy, and what does fertility rate even have to do with an anime trope or character, if anything you just proved yourself wrong and contradicted yourself by saying "No human acts like this". I can tell you Japanese Otakus most definitely do.
Now just let others enjoy the anime whether its shit or bad to you others may love it. You can hate this anime but no need to make a full ass review about how bad it is on the first episode.
I've been learning Japanese for years now. I talk to Japanese people daily. Japanese people are not anime characters. I know it's weird, but this is the truth. They are just regular humans, you know? People.
I have no idea what tiktok filter you're rambling about, so I just ignore that part.
However, the fact that I do not like the anime does not mean that no one is allowed to enjoy it. I could not care less about it. Never has it been stated anywhere in the rules that I can only write positive comments about an anime.
Now please stop annoying me. Thanks.
I can understand defending the show since it's only the first ep and so i'll support that part. I too had fun with the first ep.
But coming from someone who did their middle school in Japan, that too at a boys school, I want to correct one of your misconceptions. Let me tell you that hardly anyone acts like that, ever. Not even the many Japanese otakus I knew back then. There could be some deviations in that case, but for the most part and from my own experience, anime tends to over exaggerate in that as well as many other aspects, so I can understand why it starts to get annoying for people.
After watching for a bit I was hitting the right arrow key to get through it faster and it was still taking forever. I thought it might be funny but once I saw the MC acting like the standard terrified rodent (not even wanting to read the same book because UwU she's too close) I had to nope out.
I don't need an anime protagonist to be an ultra badass action hero, but I do need him to be able to breathe the same air as a woman and not be hysterical over it.
I love how when the trailer came out people said "it looked amazing", and then here we are hating on the animation lol (not everyone ofc)
I hate GoHands' animation style tbh didn't enjoy a single show they've made so far. It's a shame GoHands got the adaptation for this manga, I heard the manga was pretty good
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
For me the manga always had a pastel chill vibe. I start the episode and think "eh dont really like this photoshop template brush look but as long as the direction and vibe still fit maybe worth watching." AND THEN IT GOES INTO A 5 MINUTE BRAIN MELTING INTERPOLATED FISHEYE ODD ANGLE FEST OF PEOPLE WALKING???
Rest of the episode just felt over-directed and pretty terrible and kinda just missed the appeal of the story. Welp I'm sad the manga gets done dirty like this. Read the manga or watch Tsuki ga Kirei instead for a similar young romance thing imo.
Just so this comment isnt all bitching here is what would have improved it for me:
Don't mind me just dropping by and skimming through the thread 'cause it's a show I'm interested in...
Different casting/voice direction to make the characters come across as insecure middle schoolers
I think, for the male lead, at least, that issue would be on the voice directing, not the casting...
Also said VA is the reason why, even with this controversial response, I will be watching this...~'
The first minutes felt like someone was trying out CGI animation for the first time, and having fun with the distorted perspectives. The grassy field looked a bit too shiny too. The later scenes felt better, and the CGI was less dominant, apart from a part where the "camera" was "flying" over/through the desks, like some NASA animation.
The content was good with a few funny moments, like when she was mistaking him for her dad, lol.
The thread "Discussion about animation | Really, GoHands?" and its comments have been merged into this thread.
You can view the merged thread's body below:
I don't think I need to comment that much. These scenes that mix 3D with 2D are horrible.
The perspective angle makes everything worse.

The disproportionate zoom dashes the scene's hopes of being good and makes it look amateurish.
The characters are leaning against nothing.

This animation is awful.
You can see the full scene here.
