I think that was a decent first episode. Takehito Koyasu showing up was cool, hope we see a lot of his character. I found the OP a little boring, though.

  I think it's because of a streaming service. They got the video in advance and someone leaked it (in a group chat only at first). I didn't follow it actively but that's the stuff I kinda heard, could be wrong. Either way it was a shitty thing to do, I already dislike leaks in general but leaking the entire episode is just awful.

I really liked the bg animation and all the extra content they added to flesh out the start. Op and Eg were really nice and I quite liked Gossos directorial style. Hopefully this seasons animation quality is at least on par with the last

sorry but the only artist that will make my day worse in the whole industry is tatsuya kitani, opening couldn't be more boring, absolutely interchangable with every other his song and bleach opening lmao

It’s gonna take a lot to top Kaikai Kitan, and the ED wasn’t too interesting either.

Also, why is this season categorized as "boys love"? Is Geto gay for Gojo now?

Shota Goshozono = fun tv anime
I'm so glad they got rid of these awful school uniform designs with a dozen folds and weird latex looking shading. Action scenes definitely look cleaner with simplified character designs.
Gojo's Past arc is my favorite one in the manga and I'm glad that Mappa is putting a lot of money into this.
Special op & ed just for 5 episodes (most likely) is a welcome surprise (I love the ed).

THE ANIMATION, THE CINEMATOGRAPHY, THE CAMERA ANGLES!! I'm so glad they took inspiration from the CSM anime.. can't wait for more episodes, especially the Shibuya ones it’s so insanely good broo. The only thing I'm not a fan of are the goofy chibi animations, but I get the vibe they’re going for with the first part of this season.

  The best-directed episode of CSM's (episode 8) episode director is the series director for this season, and he both directed and storyboarded this episode.

Unfathomably good new direction, I have very quickly fallen in love with this new style. Obviously this episode wasn't really getting into any of the heavy stuff, so the actual content wasn't all that, but if they keep up this production, this season gonna be something else.

JUJUTSU KAISEN S2 #1: Hidden Inventory

This is fun. Already fond of the cast and the story promises to shape up to something quite interesting with the girl (I’m sure the dilemma of whether it’s worth sacrificing her will come up) and the dynamic between Geto and Gojo. It’s also interesting to see how different Gojo is to the Gojo we knew so far, there will definitely be a lot of grave events which changed him, which makes the more fun and carefree atmosphere we have right now the more intriguing. The aesthetic is also massively improved, I’m a huge fan that under Gosso there is much lighter compositing, making this show much more vibrant and aesthetically pleasing than other shows MAPPA produced recently. And a lot of fun animation, there is constant movement and an absurd amount of freedom in how to draw the characters and move them (One thing which was particularly funny to me is how Gojo changed from chibi to normal proportions within a cut to display his shift in attitude). I also like Gosso's direction, he pulls the fun but also atmospheric segments off pretty well. The little horror segment this episode was pretty tense, he also utilized the camera very well here. The OP is also probably my fav so far, I love it. Huge fan of having very lively slice-of-life portions but also the bombastic action sequence where they fall down a skyscraper - That’s the kind of absurd action I look for in an anime. To name some negative stuff though, there are some noticeable limitations, such as the animation being jittery with more ambitious rotation shots. They already struggled with pulling that off cleanly in CSM. A bit uncanny. The 3D environments also are plainly modeled (ground/walls are often just planes with texture) and the flatness compared to the 2D animation stands out. Due to high usage of 3D backgrounds and the comp not trying to hide it, it’s noticeable.

  Haha don't worry, I'm definitely watching this one. JJK in fact is the only show I will watch this season (unless something else comes up really interests me but I doubt it)

I liked that we got to see more of Utahime and Mei Mei’s mission

Also like the slice of life scenes in both the OP and ED.

The artstyle is so inconsistent its really odd. The animation is great but I mean:

Different colors, different floor, the trash suddenly disappeared etc. idk why they didnt just stick with the top one from the start

  They just simplified it to make it easier to animate Gojo destroying the building. But yeah I noticed the change too and it definitely caught me off guard

  I'm aware of that, but besides this scene in particular, the fairly simple character design just doesnt fit the super detailed backgrounds.

  I completely agree. I think the simple character designs are worse than the designs in season 1 for a lot of reasons, but them being more simple makes it much easier to animate, which will result in an overall better product than it would have been if they tried to stick with the more detailed season 1 designs.
  Mappa's animaters are way too overworked currently to put out something that looks as good as JJK season 1 did again, so the way I see it, this change in animation style is neccecary. Especially since this season will be so much more action heavy than the last.

Reminded me a lot of Chainsaw Man. Loved the Digimon referense by Gojo.

Excited to see what this season brings and I'm glad JJK is back.
