This was such a good episode - rudeus's trauma kickin in and sylphie losing control got me on the edge of my seat .
The way they handled the talk in japanese was also done in a great way.
Hands down the best episode (so far) in Season 2 for me.
The trasition from japanese to the local language was phenomenal, the huge lore drops made everything much more exciting and the moments full of emotions had me on the edge of my seat. Props to the VAs, amazing job. As an anime only I have really high hopes that the remaining bit of the season will be just as great as what I've seen these past weeks.
This episode was completely insanity.
Since ep 7 watching Zanoba cry I knew they would nail this episode with the expressiveness. Watching Rudy running while screaming was absolutely terrifying. Sylphiette's Va did her part flawlessly too.
Music was on point too the OST was truly amazing.
Can't express how perfect this episode was from the beginning to the end. They gotta stop delivering 5 minute episodes each week because it's fucking torturous having to wait all this time for such a short time :]
100000000/10
White Mask is secretly the summoned heroine of a Isekai. The trope can't die.
How so??
I jest.
But, don't you know the trope? The black-haired saintess summoned to save the world according to the prophecy? That trope.
She has no magic. She can’t be that.
The trope does not require the saintess to possess "magic".
She can't be a heroine when she clearly hates the world she's being teleported in and has more in attempting to go back to her own world instead of doing anything remotely "heroic" in this new world.
how insane am i for thinking nanahoshi wasn't actually summoned in the flesh either so much as copied from before she would have been hit by the truck, and her lack of mana is due to something else entirely (like, say, inhabiting a mana-fueled construct body that's ageless by nature, the creation of which did cause the mana disaster but has no connection to how it specifically caused teleportation)
looking forward to when/if rudy actually reconciles with his own past enough to admit that he actually saw her alive after when she remembers being summoned, because the implication would be that there's also still a nanahoshi living her life in japan, and then the presumed isekai duplicate then gets to have to reconcile her desire to return with that
It was explained in the episode that everything in the fantasy world has mana, so she is definitely from a different world. I can't clarify more without going into spoilers. Information about her and teleportation incident will be spoon-fed until the end of the series, so, if you enjoy solving puzzles - this one will keep you entertained for a long time :)
Fun fact: Pursena specializes in healing magic while Linia in elemental magic. Rudeus has classes with them and they often practice together.
Fun fact #2: Nanahoshi is very rich, she used her knowledge from her original world to secure a stable source of income. She uses mana from magical crystals to help with her research, but concerned that she's buying too many of them which negatively impacts the market.
Fun fact #3: Rudeus didn't faint from fear, but actually knocked himself out by falling down the stairs. Not sure why they've decided to change it in the anime.
We should give props to the music direction for this episode.
Nanahoshi's theme is written in a 7/7 measure.
For those who don't know music theory, instead of counting in the normal 1-2-3-4 measure that most of us would be familiar with, a 7-beat measure is not common in most music we listen to with some exceptions, but the composition of Nanahoshi's theme has that ominous, mysterious sound to it.
