I so need a second season of this
@CryOfTheRaven I want a second season too and nice gintama pfp gintama is peak
You can't tell me this was intentional
Kind of an unsatisfying ending, still wish the novels were translated.
whats this
I'm not a video editor but it looks to me like the object masking went bad (i.e. boundaries of overlapping videos). Looks like they had the individual animations over a greenscreen and maybe set the wrong color threshold for replacement and the green object boundary pixels stayed because they had a slightly different color than the rest of the greenscreen? Maybe I'm talking out of my ass though.
I'm going to be honest, I think it was intentional. The anime went through a lot of weird transitions and stylistic choices at times. I think this was just another one of them. Looking at this frame here, you can notice some of the blending frames (the morphing of the gun, making it look smoother in motion) as well as the accenting motion line slightly off the barrel of the gun. If this was just an overlayed video file and a bad mask/chroma key, generally you wouldn't have perfect linework like that. You'd see it invading the black outlines, maybe even going into the color of the character a bit. It's also behind that motion line.
This means someone actively made the decision to put this effect in. Not sure why, it looks horrible, but hey, artists gonna art I guess. (If you still don't believe it, this had to get through production, cleanup, publishers, presentation viewing if there was any, and I honestly don't even think anime animators even use cheap editing effects like chroma key at all really.)

After checking the Bluray raws, seems you're right.
If somehow they got another episode, this would have been way better. You don't hype a confrontation by two sides and then end it in the first minutes in a flash.
Really sad, one of my favourites from this season got hindered by being only one cour. Also I do think this arc would have worked better as second episode and then closing with the one at London that introduces Banquet. But alas...
A rather rushed finale with the big battle ending in about 2 minutes (the Royce guys were a waste of time) and a bit of a cop out to just let Nora go without any punishment whatsoever.
However, that aside very much enjoyed this series - Some great visuals, quirky characters and just generally very entertaining.
Bring on S2 pls.
Very nice! I don't watch a ton of brand new shows, but this one caught my eye and I wasn't disappointed. Unique idea, though admittedly detective stuff is outside of my wheelhouse so I didn't enjoy the scenes beat for beat like some others probably did. The climax to each act was incredibly satisfying and the animation for this show is also nothing to scoff at, choreography for the fights was top notch and it's not even really a fight focused show.
Definitely not industry slop, I can say that much.
I was incredibly impressed by Aya Rindou's personality, her self-deprecating humor, and the chemistry with Trusgaru Shiruchi, who tuned in to the same frequency right after they met, as if they had known each other for years and teased her so well. I was expecting more involvement from Annie Kerber, but I didn't get that. Overall, I really enjoyed the show.
