At long last I am finally free of that creepy CG baby in the opening
What humanity really wants?
Let me answer this real quick ^^
In my opinion humanity wants lasting contentment, be it through variety of many ways of achieving that.
For it to be lasting contentment, it can't be anything material, because as we know things come and go.
Great conclusion to this anime, I'm looking forward to second season, if/when it'll happen :)
Both thumbs up from me for bringing philosophy into anime format (Y)
I loved the various philosophical questions posed in each episode, but THIS is what I wanted.
I get that there's a sequel manga series that does dive more into Sudou looking for the copy of his mother's neural network and I'm hoping we get that, but I have my doubts.
I don't feel like this series will sell well to warrant a sequel and will sadly fall to the wayside. A real shame, because it's a real missed opportunity
I'm glad the series decided to keep some semblance of a through line with a few repeating characters and mini-arcs. Like the family from early on deciding that they are happy even if they had a bad speed bump at the time. Hopefully if we get a 2nd season it'll lean into slightly longer arcs of a few episodes at a time.
There seems to be a fair amount of manga to read, but I would like to see how the studio would adapt that material. At the very least we need to see more of Sudo's travels and finding out what happened to his mother as well as what will happen when he joins the Michi Committee that he's been avoiding
Also, hot take: that was my favourite OP of last season, but yeah the goat-eyed baby was weird
Finally, a speculative science fiction anime that asks questions about soon to be real world issues.
Production quality was fine. It's not an action anime. My main issue is that some topics are not explained well. For example episode 10 where the humanoid murders a random woman to "thwart" the Super AI. The reason behind it is not well explained (I already know what he is trying to do, but the rest of the audience might not).
The anime handles the topics of "identity of the self" and "continuity of the self" really well. Though I wish they would delve a little deeper.
The show is an 8/10 for me. I wish it had better directing.
Edit: The point of having a baby in the intro was to be creepy.
