Well we know 3 things from this
The leaks were real and Geekdom was actually right.
It's gonna be a mix of 3d and 2d which will be interesting to see how it animates.
and 3. Toei is making the anime equivalent to Baby Looney Tunes.
It's amazing how they keep milking this franchise and serving me bullshit and I keep accepting and enjoying it.
It's because you're a slave.
Man with Final Fantasy banner calls other people slaves.
? Final Fantasy is actually good though, unlike this.
First of all, Final Fantasy hasn't been good since Sakaguchi left.
Secondly, that wasn't the point being made.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake and 16 are amazing games. 14 used to be ass at one point and is now one of the most played MMOs out there.
Then what point are you making? My banner isn't just any Final Fantasy. It's Final Fantasy 6, one of the best in the series. This is not the own you think it is.
Ehhh, aside from the great animation the trailer didn't do anything for me, the idea/concept just sounds really stupid with how every character is turning into a child or a baby. Who knows, maybe it might actually be good since it said that Tori is writing the story
Although I am confused as to why Toei still has not adapted a lot of the super manga.
As much as I like the fact that Akira Toriyama is involved in this, I hate Toei Animation Studio avoiding DBS as if it doesn't even exist. The manga is so good right now and first season of DBS was a masterpiece. I can't think of a single reason why they're pushing it further away.
Honestly the manga is ok, I really liked the beginning of the Morro arc (probably because it wasn't adapted into anime) but to say that the first season of DBS is a masterpiece might be a bit much, the idea of god of destruction is good but the rest of the plot is poorly realised
Can you be more specific about that? According to your profile statistics, you haven't even watched past episode 45. For me, DBS was the highest point. Z Kai felt like a prelude to everything Super is. So far, every argument I've seen on the internet is pointless. I don't find it surprising though. I can see people hating on literally anything on the internet. So, it's normal.
Dude you really need to watch OG Dragon Ball and the original Z, much better than Kai/Super.
Z had the worst pacing ever. I stopped watching at episode 12 and switched to Kai. DBS is way better than the others. Even Z Kai felt lagging at times.. especially, the Majin Buu saga and Frieza Arc. So, I don't understand what you're referring to. Some people take comfort in being a slave to nostalgia.
The Dragon Ball Super anime and manga have always had nothing to do with each other.
Both just worked from base concepts and notes Toriyama gave to both Shueisha and Toei, and Moro/Granolah weren't working from those ideas Toriyama had been giving them. Nobody knows why it is that the anime and manga have been produced in such an unorthodox way, but they've always been completely separate productions, with Toei showing a clear lack of desire to approach Toyotaro's manga, a la Getter Robo back in the day. Same initial concepts, different execution and focuses.
I'm sure they follow manga before adapting it. Maybe they do it to make the anime more exciting to people who have read the manga. Idk, it's just a wild guess. I've seen shows twisting the source material before. But, what's the source of this information you just shared?
The manga and anime were made at roughly the same time, with the anime quickly outpacing the manga midway through the Universe 6 tournament arc. Toei was never adapting it.
Toei animation is the greatest threat of this franchise according to what you're saying. The last few movies are also kinda confusing since they both take place at different points in the actual story.
Toei is actually one of the key factors to Dragon Ball's continued media presence, as well as much of its international appeal through the anime (which in all honesty, any other studio of the time would've failed to present nearly as well), and in the current day, any other studio would've been crippled by the production demands placed on Dragon Ball Super's first two years.
Have they just given up on adapting the manga then?
The Dragon Ball Super manga was never being adapted. It and the anime were separate productions for the Dragon Ball Super project, and while the manga's brand is continuing, the prior two arcs (Moro and Granolah) were both primarily under Toyotaro's direction, whereas the major arcs (Kami to Kami, Fukkatsu no F, Universe 6, Goku Black, and Universal Survival) were concepted and written by Akira Toriyama.
This also applies in the reverse. The Copy Vegeta and Goku Assassination arcs of the anime were Toei originals, and didn't see equivalents in the manga, similar to how Toyotaro included Vegeta's God form and Goku's Perfected Blue, both of which weren't in the anime (until Broly in regards to Vegeta).
yh I get what you mean. Of course there are some differences between the manga and the anime, but I wasnt expecting them to completely miss entire arcs that are quite sizeable. I've put off reading the Moro arc for god knows how long expecting to get adapted, so I'll be pretty bumbed for it not to happen. Plus the ''canon'' of dragon ball super was already all over the place with things being retroactively added in all over the place, but this just goes even further in making it a confusing mess. I also thought that Toriyama trusted Toyotaro specifically to make new material which is also why I'm confused the anime and manga are now being kept very seperate like two different continuities.
Again, it's because things like Moro and Granolah are creations of Toyotaro, whereas the main arcs of DBS, Broly, Super Hero, and now Daima, are creations of Toriyama. It could be a licensing issue with Shueisha, as while those default to Bird Studio, Moro and Granolah are go back to Shueisha beyond just branding (as well as Toyotaro himself), but we don't actually know.
You shouldn't expect any adaptations of manga only content though. DBS was never an adaptational anime.
...I'd be safe in assuming they've already produced the first 24-36 episodes at this point and are doing VA work on anything produced, while working on who knows how many more episodes of filler they're going to need to remove the taste of bitch-baby-bulma from everyone's mouths.
Could have shown off more than snippets of, basically, nothing.
I think a lot of people believe this is just Toriyama making GT2, but I actually see this as a soft reboot to the entire series. A positive opportunity to reset everything from power levels to transformations and realign the series back into an adventure story that is welcoming for a new generation.
A lot of series do this sort of thing all over the world. Culturally, Japan does this quite often with long running shows. Case in point, Tokusatsu shows like Ultraman and Kamin Rider.
I think long-time fans should give this a chance before writing off this new era completely.
This isn't even the "new era" since they're still working on Super content...this is just a side-project for income purposes that now is also a place for the new artist/author of Dragonball to sharpen his babyteeth.
A positive opportunity to reset everything from power levels to transformations
Aaaaand an alien faction ID's certain people by power level + social caste. Also still SS/SS2/SS3 transformations + non-Ki based energy + Majin creation. Nope, same old song and dance in a new, poorly telegraphed long-winded letter with people as kids for no reason.
Anyone know if im can to watch this if i havent watched Z Or Super ?
I mean you can since it its a spin-off with no narrative tie in (seemingly) but I imagine a lot of the comedy and dynamics rely on the pre-established relationships the characters have.
Also since they have the Supreme Kai seemingly playing a larger role; seeing the Majin Buu arc in DBZ might be quite important for any potential narrative development
