There was an official live stream hosted by the BTR seiyuu today which included a new PV for the recap movie and the announcement that it's now going to be split in two. Part 1 will be released in the originally-planned Spring 2024 window, while Part 2 is scheduled for Summer 2024.
Aside from how unexpected and crazy this announcement was, I'm wondering what this means for the movie's entry on Anilist. Does that mean it should now be two different pages, or should it be listed as having two episodes?
i love how the pv starts with the meme pose and then just goes into completely original recorded dialogue about the movie being split
anyways with that much runtime there's no way they don't my new gear at the end right
please tease s2
Yeah, I'm hoping that they'll add some movie-original scenes.
I also hope that have some sort of teaser for Season 2 at the end. Maybe a scene with either Yoyoko or Poison Yami
it would be weird to try to fit in more
yoyoko
screentime than the two cameos she already got, especially since there'd be no real reason for her to be connected to anything unless they add in some kind of scene from kikuri's perspective (maybe a scene from spinoff chapter 5?)
but as is the anime does literally stop exactly the chapter before
poison shows up
and assuming they adapt it in full at the beginning of s2 anyways, they could distill the hell out of that chapter to get the tease in as appropriate
also come to think of it they could also sneak in
sasaki or shiba
there would be all kinds of opportunities to have some kind of background thing happen with sasaki since she's literally just one of kita's friends--i'm almost surprised she isn't in s1, but without knowing they'd end up doing s2 it would probably just be too weird to have an effective background character with bright lime green hair, especially since unnamed basketball friend has dark green hair in a somewhat similar style
and i'm sorta hoping they don't sneak shiba in since it would kinda risk undermining the arc, but it would still be funny considering hamazi has remarked on how it wouldn't be unlikely that she'd happened to pass by kessoku band at some point earlier since the office is so close to starry
there could also be background dialogue somewhere namedropping sideros (or kemonoria, or even tenshi no cuticle lmao)
@RaisinJuuce
i dont really know how i feel about this ngl. guess we'll just have to wait and see when it comes out.
thats how it is with 12 ep anime that get recap movies. couple of popular examples are made in abyss and madoka magica, both with varying degrees of original content, although i doubt bocchi will even get any considering cloverworks understandable yet low interest in the series right now
the only real bottleneck keeping a s2 from having already been announced is staff availability, isn't it? of course that in and of itself would likely be a problem for new content, but a smattering of scenes is way less of a commitment than a whole cour and if it feels slightly out of tune with what's already there then it's still in the middle of the good stuff
it's also hard to imagine what content could be injected through the middle short of completely restructuring for a full adaptation of chapter 16, but they've already done some spectacular work with anime-original content in places i'm not sure i would have expected it in the slightest if i'd read the manga first (episode 11 comes to mind) and i'm still holding out hope for a possibly cut down chapter 22 at the end (even though it also totally deserves to be a full episode 1 when s2 rolls around)
Where would we even watch this when it's out?
i assume crunchyroll since thats where s1 is i think
Thats only if CR gets the license for the films.
I mean just because they have the series doesnt mean they'll get the films.
if its that difficult then i always have my boat to sail the vast ocean for when the times get tough.
Despite what animelord is trying to imply, it is fairly rare for a movie to not get a home release nowadays
Not really as one of the streaming sites that does home releases have to get the rights for it.
So if they dont want to or for w/e reason cant, then the movie just doesnt get one.
So theres plenty of movies that dont get home releases.
Just to name one, Attack on Titan ~Chronicle~ never got a home release.
Plus ill just repeating what ZNote said so you might want to include them.
It would probably be available on a piracy site, since legal sites sometimes might have the original TV series, but not the movie adaptation / summary truncation. And sometimes, it's the other way around - at the time of this writing, Crunchyroll has the Urusei Yatsura films, but not the original series from 1981-83.
But in order to get on a piracy site in the first place, fansubbers would need to get their hands on a quality print of the movie, which means probably having to wait until it gets some kind of Blu-Ray release, hence why so many anime movies usually take a few months after their premiere to make their way onto the internet.
