Tearmoon Empire episode 6 aired yesterday and focused on the preparation and execution of the sword fight tournament. First we see Mr. Keithwood help out the rest of the girls make lunch for Prince Abel and Prince Shion. Later we see Prince Abel faced off against his mocking brother and then Prince Shion, with the latter getting cut in half due to rain. While Princess Mia hasn't yet admitted it to herself, but she there is clearly a romantic line between her and Abel, so she is slowly maturing as a person. The episode ends with Princess Mia and Prince Abel reuniting after the match.
However, I will add that if there was a "convenient plot" tag, Tearmoon Empire should definitely have it. Despite it being a large tournament, we only see Prince Abel do two fights (with the last one even being cut short), and Princess Mia's fumbling and egotistical actions somehow lead her to the perfect geopolitical course.
And lastly, c'mon lads, it's been a day since it aired and there was no discussion thread! But what are you guys' thoughts? What will happen in the next episode? What are the next obstacles to Princess Mia on her adventure to avoiding Guillotine-kun?
i was kinda sceptic watching this series but i started and binge watched whole 6 episodes. Some may say its generic but despite this i feel this is a rather enjoyable watch. Waiting for next ep. ps is this only 12 eps?
I agree, it is a bit too convenient for some plot points, and sometimes even a bit generic. But it has the soul not many shows have. The characters feel believable and there is some comfy dynamic amongst them. That's why I also started watching it days ago despite it airing for 6 weeks already.
Also yes, the listing says that it will be 12 episodes., but we are already halfway through.
Oh, I've got thoughts on this one!
Horse bread! That's one way to start an episode! Welcome to chaos Keithwood!
Truly that one highlights Mia as an adorable idiot. Not the only idiot in that room of course. In some ways it's kind of sweet how hard she's fallen without realizing it. Going intensely on the horse theme meal idea because darn it that's one thing she knows he likes! And she's so utterly happy about the job she did that he can't criticize her over it .
And she's winning points with Keithwood over thanking him personally. Although partly because she was grateful and also because she'd never want to express more thanks to Sion than absolutely necessary! Keithwood is on the limit of Mia's ability to handle. He works for Sion so he probably was involved in the Revolution, but he wasn't a leader of it or anything.
Man, Abel's timing is just so darn good. Guy has a gift. Right there when Mia needed some water and was able to come to her rescue. Although I think Anne probably should have had drinks anyways if she was bringing a treat with spicy ingredients to it.
I do like elements where Mia does go against what she thinks is a good idea for herself because her heart pulls her another way. Prioritizing staying alive makes sense. But the realities of the heart have their place. Both positively and negatively. Supporting Abel is something she truly wants so she'll do it even if there are risks. But she's also hesitant to make use of Sion despite the possible benefits because...the heart can turn negative as well.
Her plan to use another nation to help protect herself would have potential snags if the first prince has a grudge against her. But, gotta do what feels right. Plus there's no point in trying to ease things with the older brother. The guy is scum. Mia can handle a lot with what she's already endured, but not an appealing choice to endear herself to a guy like that.
Just a really cute episode. Mia really just a spiral of emotions in this one. Especially her reaction shots to the Abel and Sion conversation. Anything about Abel is spun to the most positive way possible and anything Sion says is spun as the greatest insults ever spoken .
Pretty cool that Abel is closer than he thought. Was able to hit so hard that Sion was shaken up by it too much to counter like he normally would. Had to fall back to steady himself. And good strategy by Abel. Got to lean into his best trait and keep going. Trying to get cute would just be inviting Sion to quickly win.
The interruption was timely. Good chance Sion would have won with enough time to let his arm loosen up a bit. But you never know. Abel was pouring on the pressure. Fair enough to stop it once lightning starts falling...you know with two members of royal families waving swords around! Plus yeah not much point with the audience mostly heading inside to get out of the rain .
That Uma Pan, horse bread, stuff at the beginning was so funny. Tear moon is anything but generic but I get that you might get that opinion from the first arc/first 2 volumes which seems to be exactly what the anime will cover.
Mia and the rest of the girls really can't cook, I think Abel and Sion would have eaten anything with a smile on their faces but it's good Keithwood saved the day. I identify with Mia and her blind confidence in Abel a lot. You have to remember Mia spent like 5 years in prison so she's a complete novice at romantic relationships despite her own self-assessment.
If you think Mia's bumbling actions lead to a good outcome now you ain't seen nothing yet.
Well I know what will happen so I can't really tell. The duel was good but not really one of the fights I was looking forward to. It seems Dion, a character who's good extremely good at fighting and loooves speaking his thoughts out loud is showing up next
