Saw a youtube short that stated that after WWI or WWII in Germany there was only 1 man for every 3 women on average

gave me two story hook idea

hook one in the near future gene editing goes wrong and only one male child is born for every 3 to 5 female children

hook two in medieval fantasy world although the birth ratio is equal for boys and girl but so many young men are lost in combat, monster hunting or disease at the age of adulthood the ratio 1 to 3 to 1 to 7

what your thoughts and their any anime, manga or light novels like one of the two hooks

do you have any ideas on how a society would or could work

The concept looks good. I just remember about Highschool of the Dead or Rakudai Kishi because envolve fighting and a male with several females, but nothing more, really.

For a good medieval fantasy setting i recommend you watching Juuni Kokuki
