[Spoilers] I'm in Love with the Villainess | Episode 12 Discussion
What a fitting way to conclude the first season of this anime. This is one of the year's best yuri anime, and what a fantastic ride it was for the LGBTQIA+ community.
There are numerous hints throughout the episode (we saw what they did there. point meme) that season 2 will be released, but no announcement has been made.
If you want season 2 to happen but can't afford the Blu-ray, you can buy as many WataOshi's anime-branded items as you can afford from CDJapan. As of now, many of the items in the shop have already sold out, and Blu-ray pre-orders are still going strong, which is definitely a positive indicator.
We're all hoping for season two. Make a Christmas wish for the second season.
That was a great way to end this season. I'm really hoping for a season 2, I'm going to read the light novels anyway, but seeing it all animated and voiced is an entirely different experience.
Ever since Manaria got introduced I had a feeling she was trying to help Claire and Rae, but as Rae said, there must have been a better way to do it.
not must, there was, what Manaria did was the worst way to go about it, in fact what she did almost destroyed their relationship completely, also basing all this off the fact that she sexually assaulted somebody out of desperation for their unrequited love was a bit of a slap to the face, while it makes sense for her ig the way they were trying to reason that to the audience didn't work, at least not for me
All she really had to do was Talk to Rae and try to reassure her, or maybe have a duel to clear Rae's mind, but let me remind you that Manaria nearly KILLED Rae, even if there was a barrier she went WAY to far, and then the way she spoke and acted towards Rae only served to make things worse and to put Rae in a darker headspace, in fact if Rae had been more of the desperate type instead of the depressed type that whole situation itself could've leaded towards Rae assaulting Claire which is supposedly what Manaria wanted to avoid, luckily Rae isn't that type of person, and then to put the cherry on top MANARIA THREATENED TO SEXUALLY ASSAULT CLAIRE IF RAE LOST AND PROCEEDED TO GET THE BEST ITEM SHE COULD TO WIN, every step of the way Manaria did the worst thing she could've done, if it wasn't for Rae's resolve then they're relationship would've been nearly irrecoverable
also side note weren't those scales supposed to be determined based off of feelings? it feels like that flower is just a cheat code because it doesn't seem to matter if you have feelings or not, as long as you have that flower you win, of course not too many people really believe in the scale now either but just a side note

it was when Manaria was getting mad at Rae and saying it was her fault, the entire reason why she was supposedly trying to help Rae was because Manaria previously had an unrequited love with a maid and sexually assaulted her after letting her feelings and desires get pent up, and now she's trying to do something about Rae because she's like "if you pent up your desires you'll assault Claire as well"
Good reasons why I was never a fan of Manaria in the LN. She does a lot of questionable things. I don't think you're supposed to really feel good about her at this point (she might show up again later and redeem herself though).
As for the scales thing: The point is it's so incredibly difficult to get the flower, so that shows just how dedicated someone is.i mean ig but she IS nobility so it's not like she has to really get it herself, she just needs to hire somebody or just buy it

Honestly, it done everything I wanted it to and more. Pulling Rae's skeletons out the closet and forcing her to confront them was something I wanted from this show after the excellent ep 3, and though I didn't love everything between then and now, I'm glad to see Villainess nail its core theme here at the end.
I'll definitely be around if S2 ever gets announced!
I'm a little pissed off at Claire for doing almost nothing for her love and waiting for Rae to do everything.
And for that last scene, everyone already knows what happens with this stories, and if not, everyone already knew the second Rae said "never give up" after winning the contest with Claire. And we already know there's gonna be drama and Rae will save the day and blabla she won't die.
Hoping for a s2
It was... ok, I guess. For a finale, I think it couldve gone harder
This was one of the brightest, if not the most enjoyable, romance anime of this season for me. In general, it was a really great romance with a surprising amount of lore, which actually dealt with more mature themes as well.
I think a Season 2 is almost guaranteed, however I'll buy the light novels as soon as possible ^^
This was an overall enjoyable show. I like the character and it had good comedy bits
However this ending was way too fast. Clair and Rae went to stop talking to each other to being "dating" (?) in a span of 1 episode, and Claire didn't showed any sign of romantic progress during the previous 11 episodes. Btw, didn't she liked the white hair dude? What about that?
They should've paced this final episode better I feel.
Actually she showed quite a bit. One of them was just what you mentioned "didn't she like the white hair dude?" She did, but as the show went on, her interest in him waned, until soon it was just gone. Because someone else had taken a place in her heart. Just one of hte many things. it's all mostly subtle and not overt though.
"stop talking each other to 'dating'" is just a matter of their relationship had hit a real roadblock, because Rae refused to take it seriously. As Manaria constantly pointed out. And Manaria provided the tools to get through. Could have definitely went about it in a better way, but it worked out.
Not one of my favorites for the season but a pretty enjoyable watch. The last episode felt like they rushed their relationship. It would have been nice to see Claire have an episode or 2 for her to make some progress or evaluate herself but a decent show overall.
In therms of Isekai, this was really below average. In therms of vilainess otomege anime, this was also below average.
But i dont care for isekai or vilainess otomege anime, because both genres are oversaturated.This was one of the most realistic yuri settings i`ve ever seen in anime. I've seen actual yuri that dont even come close to this one. Though i'm not recommending it o anyone due to the terrible isekai otomege i've mentioned previously, i hope it gets a second season, so i can see more good yuri.
I'm honestly very happy about the end of this season! I would love a 2nd season but tbh I don't really need a 2nd season because the end of the 1st season is already very good in my opinion. On the other side the hint with the upcomming event of Claire would make me look forward to another season
