At least 2 years of wait
1.5 if we're lucky
Great! =(
I'm thinking three years before it comes to the West outside of a very limited theatrical release, and that's in any form at all, whether on a streaming service or an imported JP Blu-ray.
If you are fine with buying the jp BD, it is taking about one year to release lately. Worst case scenario you can just rip it and add fansubs lol
For example this one:
Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken Guren no Kizunahen
Released in nov/22 and the BD is already out. According to Amazon it was released on july/23.
Same thing for the first SAO Progressive movie:
Sword Art Online Progressive Hoshinaki Yoru no Aria
Released oct/21, bd on july/22.
@Ibrahim17i you sound as if this series happened a long time ago and now they're releasing a movie lol
Now they're announcing a movie. It wouldn't be unheard of release schedule-wise for someone to be a first year in highschool/college right now, and not actually get to see it until after they graduate.
A canon movie announcement for a popular anime series generally means you won't be seeing anything from the franchise for a long, long time. Sometimes you get lucky, and they really throw money at it, and work everyone involved half to death (Kimetsu no Yayba), but I wouldn't bet on it.
Why do I see Japan
Anyone wants to spoil?
In the ln and manga there is an arc where (if you watch the last episode of s2 youll understand) shadow and beta accidentslly go back to japan. In the last episode though they didnt show Beta with him so the anime/movie might change a lot and cut a lot of scenes from the manga unless they just didnt show the whole story in the last episode
Damn, another movie - they always take forever to make, even longer to come to the West, and then even longer before we get to see another season. We could result be waiting three years before the movie actually comes here, and then another year it so before a new season :(
I suppose we're (I'm) spoiled, in that, not so long ago, an anime even getting a second season was somewhat of a miracle, but still... Now that I'm used to the good life, I can't just go back.
Hopefully this won't end up taking as long as the Overlord movie situation - and hopefully, that one will at least finally get released sometime next year in Japan, given that they haven't even hinted at a potential release period yet.
to be fair it's probably the smart choice, it will take a year or 2 for it to release but this also means we'll get 1 or 2 more volumes of the LN in the mean time which makes it more likely for a season 3 announcement afterwords because we're starting to run out of content really fast at the moment
I'm not buying the it'll take 2 years to make an entire LN volume (or two)...they're light for a reason.
Deen Koontz has well over 30 books in his career. And yes, I'm beyond sure the dude has helpers to be releasing 500-600 page books alongside 100-399 page books across various stories, but a LN being around 100 pages means they don't have valid excuses for taking that long when Dean by himself (and most halfwits on any fanfiction site) could crack that out in a week.
First off have you actually seen Light Novels? they aren't exactly Light anymore, haven't been for YEARS, all the Eminence in Shadow novels are around 300 Pages long which is about the average normal book, a lot of novels like Arifureta light novels are like 400-700 pages long
Second off Deen Koontz has well over 30 books yes... but the man has been pumping out novels since the damn 70's, i don't see how this comparison works like... at all, same with fanfiction people, they can crank shit out sure but none of that is quality controlled and doesn't have to go through a long editing and revision process like an actual novel does, same with Deen, he can pump out books faster now more then ever because they trust his writing process, same kinda thing with Stephen King
and third... do you know ANYTHING about the writing and publishing process? a book could be done but for various reasons not be published for years due to various reasons, there's also the fact that Eminence in Shadow is a continuous series which requires a lot more thought, Dean ALSO created series too but those also released with usually a year or so gap just like Eminence, in the meantime he also created solo stories which take significantly less time to pump out since you just pump and dumping a fun idea into a shorter story
All this to say that Dean is special for his time, same with people like Stephen King, Charles Dickens, The Strugatsky Brothers and Jane Austin, not everybody can do what they do, in fact like %90 of authors can't, those guys are special and put on a pedestal for a reason and are horrible comparisons to the average writer, not to mention people have person lives and can't dedicate their entire lives to writing like those people decided to do, comparing authors to them and belittling them by saying "there's no way they can't pump stuff out like they do" is downright rude to the majority of writers who can't reach the level those special and historic authors have
edit: oh and i forgot to mention when it comes to Japanese media, and sometimes regular books as well they are sometimes released on a schedule or have a contract to make a book on a specific schedule as well
Stop riding the authors ass. There are countless LN authors that release far more than <1 a year. Go to any modern popular series
you also got to realize most popular series are WN's first and then they get approached for publishing and they revise the WN's into a LN, that's why there are indeed a few LN series that get pumped out very quickly, originally Eminence DID come from a Web Novel which is why it pumped out the first few volumes relatively quickly but now the author just does the LN, which means they actually have to write it more professionally and go through the publishing process a normal book would, that takes TIME, unless your an uber world wide author then they tend to trust you and do less revisions so the process goes a bit quicker
