I thought Hagurashi would play a longer role kind of like an antagonist to Akira the way they introduced him in the "fight"
There must have been another way for bro to escape the zombies but he really went in head first.
I really didn't think the dad would make it to the end but great that he did. Didn't expect Akira to save him but the switch with the growths was just allllriiiiight lol.
Overall quite enjoyable would recommend to people who like survival/zombie shows.I'm not gonna get into the episodes coz imo it was a banger of a conclusion for the first season (hopefully more?)
Instead I want to point out a tiny thing they did with the ED. In the credits they showed the people from the prev. episodes adjusting to these new lifestyles. Heck I loved that the couple from Akira's apartment is alive.
Zom 100 is gonna stay on my mind for a long time. Going from recap OPs to the final version of the OP, KANA-BOON, banger ED, its mature themes, outright goofy stuff, Akira going My Hero Academia, frickin cool animation (especially the shark fight), randomly pulling at heartstrings, wholesomeness, whatever it did, it did really well.
The neighbours lived??? I didn't notice!
It's been so long since the first episode that I totally forgot half of these survivors, but yeah the highschoolers with sledgehammers are still around, the couple from the apartment are shown to be alive (the man with the yield sign and the lady with the other road sign as a shield). There's some other survivors that I can't remember.
I think this 3 month break caused the highs from the first few episodes to totally settle for me, and with that gone I have way more issues with the show. With all due respect, Higurashi might be one of the stupidest villains I've seen in animanga; his motivation is pulled so far out of the author's ass I'm surprised they can still sit straight.
Also, the show does that thing that bothers me the most with Jujutsu Kaisen, where it interrupts a serious moment with a random joke that completely kills any momentum the scene might have had. I get we're watching a comedy, but trying to be funny all of the time very rarely works, and the best comedy anime tend to give their serious moments some space.
Piggybacking off that, Kencho's schtick is way weirder when he's trying to make a young child laugh, and his general raunchiness has worn on me fast.
I did end up enjoying the show overall, but a lot of the heavy lifting was done by the first few episodes, and without the momentum of those, this last batch felt way weaker in comparison.
to be fair the village arc is actually considered the worst arc of the entire series by us manga fans so we get you, but after this the show goes so far off the deep end it's CRAZY, seriously read the manga things get really wacky and fun
How often does a chapter gets released?
pretty frequently but i think it's on hiatus rn while the author works on Alice in Borderland, however we have enough content for a season 2 and MAYBE a season 3
Can you tell me which chapter to pickup from the end of the anime? Or as a manga reader, do you advise me to reado from the start?
honestly i advise reading from the start, the art is great and there are some jokes and a few things the anime left out like some extra chapters that show you what happened to other characters as well as a lot of direct references to zombie culture, though the anime also added a lot of stuff which was dope so it's worth checking out the differences, i will say after where the anime ends things go off the deep end and get REALLY wacky and wild, it's a lot of fun
@firegodmc10 I’m still hyped for this anime and it ended wonderfully. One of the best this season and a delay doesn’t invalidate that in the grand scheme of things. Soooo happy it had a proper ending after the few months. The animators needed the time and we waited, can’t have it both ways and complain that the hype died for you lol so weird

I mean I hope we get to see them in Season 2 but these were all characters from the previous episodes this season.
Pic 1: Girl from the Aquarium episode
Pic 2: These guys were from Akira's Boss' gang
Pic 3: The idol and the girl from Kencho episode
Pic 4: The sushi chef from the Beatrix episode
Pic 5: Akira's neighbours
Wow, these lasts few episodes were definitely worth the wait! Always good to give the animators enough time to do their amazing work. The hype never died with me and it’s one of the best anime this year regardless of delays.
Just loved so many aspects of the episodes, it really showed me how much I missed this anime ugh! Definitely re-watching once the English dub is fully out (soon). They def left it open for future seasons to come out, I’d wait for that too :D
The last 3 eps were great, i read the manga just some days ago but the anime still got me engaged. The adaptation was better than expected. I liked a lot of the decisions the director took and the more serious tone at the end. Don't know what all are on about saying it was bad, it all fit well and the jokes felt not forced or over the top.
Overall it was a very entertaining show, with great visuals and vibrant colourful animation, with some good comedy and also more melancholy bits.
That said I feel this finale arc was a little rushed, decent enough but the other villains don't really get much realistic motive beyond a short flashback each which basically just reveals them to be dicks, and then get they defeated easily and killed off screen. Higurashi (and maybe the overworked guy) gets given a slightly deeper meaning but his social anxiety sympathy doesn't really offset the whole wanting to kill everyone thing.
But still, very enjoyable.
The thread "[Spoilers episode 12] Higurashi's 'sacrifice'" and its comments have been merged into this thread.

Wouldn't it be stronger, more redeeming, if Higurashi wasn't bitten by a random zombie in his leg before running towards the horde of zombies? Meaning it was a true sacrifice being the decoy while Akira and the rest can safely leave. Now it feels not that impactful because he was going to die anyway. Any thoughts?
