I wonder if his abilities work cause of the golden ball or because he acquired them in-game

My instincts point to the golden ball... He seems like his powers come from the same place Ken, Jin, and Aira's powers originate from (if that mask thing on his face tells us anything). But this manga is so wacky, those powers could be coming from anything.

  My thoughts are the ball as well. It appears to be shining eye in a few panels, he looks like he has a long mask similar to Okarun's in a couple of spots too

Also, could we take a quick moment to appreciate these panels?!!! Tatsu-sensei is always on point with the crisp pen work and beautiful compositions!
