another anime ended, damn this season went by so fast lol
we got to see his flashback and know why he wanted to become a mythril class, rip his family and the girl
the guy who saved him was also a mythril class and he told him how to become one
ofc we know how that turned out, 20 years in training and still bronze lol
tho, thanks to his luck, he got stronger by dying and reviving as an undead, and now as a vampire, he basically looks like his old self apart from his red eyes and the little wings that he can hide anyway
apart from Rent... we also had other characters
Loraine, Sheila and the other adventurers (like the couple and the blonde) were also fun to watch
i'm not sure what to rate this, so i'll go ahead and give it an 8, it was a good anime, hopefully there's a season 2 someday
The character building was good IMO. We got to know who they were in a short amount of episodes and grew to like most of them; at least I did. I was super happy that some of them knew who he really was even if he was hiding it, and yet decided to help him nonetheless.
I agree with the other user that said, this should have been a 24 ep series, I feel there was more they could have explored or at least given us more to look forward to.
I felt the ending was ok, we got a glimpse of what he became, making me want more of this anime; however, it's a bittersweet ending as we didn't get to see what he is capable of. Well for me it is, I wish i could have seen how much stronger he got.
I really do hope there is a 2nd season.
Overall I feel like it's a good place to stop For Now™. Season 2 when? :P
It wasn't much of a surprise that his motivations involved being saved by an adventurer and being inspired to follow in their footsteps, though I hadn't expected it to involve that much tragedy (basically his entire social circle as a 5yo, family and friend, dying in front of him).
I did have to stop and laugh at "Don't die until you make your dream come true." though, given the entire premise XD
The character-building was great, as another person said, with the overall show pacing being perfect to focus on the characters and their relationships so it's easy to get invested. I also liked seeing the effects of Rentt's positive influence on some of the people around him during the transformation scene, and the way it emphasises who Rentt is as a person and that being undead will never take away his core humanity.
Genuinely one of my favourites this season, and I really hope it does come back for another season (or more, ideally, as many as it needs to tell the whole story).
To me this is the savior of the season. Always straight to watch the moment it is out, usually I waited for a day or two. This one definitely must have another season.
Note that this is not your 'fancy' or popular kind of anime which often time it kind of looked lame here and there. Despite that, to me this work got a 'soul', and that's the first thing that should matters.
Amidst the plethora of choices we've been getting for this archetype I feel like this one stands out a bit. It definitely adheres to the genre norms, but doesn't feel stale by doing so.
By not actually introducing all that many characters we got to experience somewhat decent character and world building, though there are still so many questions. Those things left unanswered however are exactly why I can definitely see another season on the horizon.
Has it been amazing? Not exactly, but I think it does stand head and shoulders above the average Fantasy Adventure. I look forward to seeing more, and if somehow that doesn't come to be this will definitely be one that then makes my reading list.
As an aside, holy crap I love the art in the closing sequence. Very nicely detailed work.
I'm genuinely really surprised by this anime. The title made it sound like it would be yet another gimmicky isekai-like edgy/unfunny show, but instead it was super pleasant? No "every character who's not a girl fauning over the MC is a horrible, shallow person"? A surprising lack of pointless RPG mechanics? Characters who actually felt like people? It's nothing amazing, but it somehow became a highlight of the season for me, which I never would have expected.
