The first episode is out. What’s your idea so far?
It was ok. Nor good nor bad. It could be better in my opinion
I actually enjoyed this episode a lot. It was funny, and the characters were entertaining.
Lloyd's performance reminded me a bit of Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries in the way he unapologetically and outwardly expresses his love for a certain field. His vocal mannerisms reminded me a lot of her, too.
If you're impartial to the reincarnation trope, then this is a great first episode, otherwise, it's just another reincarnation trope.
Gremling Lloyd expressions are very charming and entertaining. MC is hilarious and fun to follow. The animation, like the producer stated is heavily utilizing 3D and CG which is visible throughout episode. THE GIRLS ARE CUTE. The backgrounds were created in Unreal Engine and well the results are mixed. The staff has a tremendously difficult task ahead of them knowing what they adapt. Producer even jokingly said that if he had known what the manga would turn out to he would have rejected the offer (he read 1-2 volumes full of fluff as they were the only one available at the time). The show allegedly has a fixed episode director for the entire direction and in-house scriptwriter. The credits are very weird since they have people listed for 3D layout/key animation/line photograpgy, which is quite strange. Good luck in the future cuz the team would definitely need it, I'm scared lol.
that animation was way too good for another generic isekai , have high hopes for this one
This is not an isekai.
welp , it kinda isn't and kinda is
Reincarnation is not isekai.
With that said this series is an isekai in almost all but name. We have a stupidly OP main character who goes around breaking everything he touches. There are three primary differences though.
1) This series is in the shota category. The source fetishizes Lloyd to insane degrees, but it rarely if at all enters pedo territory. Yeah, the maids love him, but it never turns into anything sexual. Unfortunately this fetishism has ruined the mood and tone of the story more than once.
2) Lloyd isn't a completely dense idiot, and there is a lore reason (which is explained as a major plot point later on) for the moments where he is dense.
3) Lloyd follows his heart and acts incredibly immature, but he is highly tasteful and intelligent when it matters.
The latter two points make it much a much stronger series than the other generic garbage out there while the first point is a very understandable turnoff for many people. The first episode was a very good window into the rest of the series though. His character design, the way he poses, the attitude of the people around him - if you are comfortable with the first episode then you are probably going to be fine with the rest of the episodes since I foresee them cutting out some of the more extreme instances that wouldn't translate well to the anime format.
I was going to treat it like another typical
The Aristocrats Otherworldly Adventure Serving Gods Who Go Too Far
or
Wise Mans Grandchild
but MC being completely unhinged blows a little bit of fresh air into that stale room. I hope he won't suddenly mellow out the next episode.
Didn't expect the mc to be so unhinged, but it's even better like that for entertainment purposes, so I'm more than fine with that. His design is somewhat sus for a 10 year old tho, but at the same time I'm already used to Japan being Japan, so whatever, doesn't matter. We'll see how it goes, caught my attention so far.
