Title says it bluntly. Whenever on the home page, it is always on the global activity feed for me. Whenever I try to swap it to the following feed it loads for a short while before reverting back. Not sure what to do or what problem could be causing this.
Just commenting for added visibility, as I've already shared this in the discord server but might help with further testing by affected users. I've been experiencing this issue intermittently for years, and from what I've been able to test, I can make the following assumptions:
I really hope this can be remedied sometime soon. It seems to be getting much more frequent & longer-lasting in recent weeks than ever before, and it's really been taking a toll on my ability to use the social features of the site. No offence to y'all out there, but global just ain't for me.
i've been getting the same behaviour here for the past week or so when it used to be much less common in my experience, though the fact that it happens at all should be enough of a concern. it's more likely for me to be met with the global feed instead of the following feed nowadays, which kills my experience as a heavy user of the following feed
i get that the regular community and database mods outnumber the devs here but seeing zero response to threads like this does not help with the frustration that comes with finding out that i lost the diceroll and i cant look at my mutuals posts today :<
there's a few several reasons
a. ownership had changed April this year and they're still getting the workflow all set up
b. we haven't had a site update (outside of tiny fixes) since Sept 2022, so there isn't anything immediate to point to what's causing it
c. there's a more pressing issue to fix the search bug
it's kind of hard to address a bug when we don't know the cause
for all we know it could be user-side like an adblocker causing it... it's happened before
I've done some testing myself and adblocker has nothing to do with it
I've tried using different devices, browsers, and turning adblocker and vpn on/off but nothing seems to have a particular effect on the bug
yea same here. just to list down the stuff i've tried in the past to get it to stop: disabling any add-ons i have doesn't help, logging in and out doesnt help, deleting anilist's browser cache and logging back in doesn't help, using anilist on my android phone's browser (chrome) doesn't help, all signs seem to point to a server-side issue
and the mention of the Sept 2022 update is interesting in that a while after this update, i'd say beginning around early 2023, is when i first started experiencing this issue, though then it was extremely rare. though it isn't as rare nowadays lol
I started having this issue this week, I can no longer see the activity feed of the people I follow. I've been using this site for years without issue, so I also don't know what changed. I'm not using any new browser extensions.
EDIT: sometimes it works again, sometimes it doesn't. What seems to help is to filter on list progress only.
I miss my old friends in the following tab
Guys I unfollowed some random unactive accounts cause I was looking around my profile and suddenly the following tab is back for me. I also enabled and disabled cache on my account, so there's also that... I have no idea if these things really affected something or it was just pure luck, but I can now see what my friends are doing!!!
This is now completely broken for me. Months of this issue now tried for last 15mins to click on following. Just reverts to global. So Anilist is back to being just a backup list. It seems quite clear this isn't going to be fixed anytime soon or at all since it only seems to affect a small ish number.
Same issue happening to me, the only way it worked in the phone app (for me) was to scroll down to AniList.co, tap the three dots and tap "open in browser" then after that on the three dots again click desktop site. I stumbled upon it unintentionally, it's not convenient but works if you're desperate, hope it works for whoever is reading this
Ps. The browser I used was chrome
At this point I've cancelled my dono until this is fixed. It's been happening off and on for the last few months but I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen my following feed in the last week. Disabling add-ons, trying other browsers/devices, etc. hasn't worked and it seems like it's getting worse. No desire to see the global feed at all, just want to see what my mutuals are up to... Hope this gets fixed soon but it doesn't look like it will be. :/
How this isn't a pressing issue is beyond me.
it sounds like they're focusing on fixing features most people will use (fixing search) over the features that only its few, most dedicated users use... i get why they do it but i'm not happy about it :/
Makes sense but still annoying af. I can only hope new people continually come in and make new threads and comments. My manga community for the most part used this site and I love keeping up with what they're doing, so a lot of the site's usability has faded. I only find success these days seeing Following during the dead of night or early morning when i assume most english speaking users are asleep and the server will actually load the activities.
