1 more episode of "10 people in this same room for 24 min straight" and im dropping this shit.

I'm so confused by the people who were expecting otherwise. Being surprised that the series about politics spends a lot of air time on politics is like being surprised that a battle shounen spends too much air time on fighting
They just defeated the main antagonist in multiple, back-to-back fight episodes at the end of last season.
Obviously, they need a few more plot/dialogue-heavy episodes now to establish the conflicts that Tempest will face.
A few? A quarter of the season is not only "a few" episodes.
more dialogue than plot tho. And even so, having 6 or more episodes in a row (INCLUDING the debut episode which is usually supposed to be exciting) with essentially no action is going to hurt any action shonen... Also, the plot has not been advancing much either. All that has really changed since ep1 is the evolution of the situation in Falmuth, the rest of the time has been focused on different factions' reactions to Rimuru and Veldora, which is warranted, none of what I have said should have taken up more than 2-3 episodes max.
Unless they are baiting us, next ep looks like we'll finally get into the action, so hopefully it changes to that soon.
Exactly. Love how ppl are so against this yet for a series like DBZ and its long winded fights, its praised.
I mean one of the reasons why Kai was made was to cut all the filler and condense the series.
Then you have One Piece with all its talking.
Theres no pleasing ppl no matter what.
Plus if ppl are here after making it through S2's talks, this is nothing.
So if you're going to drop the series then do, theres nothing wrong with that.
Nobody praised the fact that DBZ's fights were long winded, nor do people praise One Piece's pacing (talking). Or at least, the majority don't.
The problem with this season of slime is that it's a poor adaptation. One of the things about anime that I hate are information dumps. It doesn't utilize the medium of animation at all, hence poor adaptation. Not even the slightest bit of "show, don't tell" here. Especially with slime when the politics aren't even that deep and can be easily summarized.
Only reason why I'm not dropping this is because I know the upcoming events since I've read the light novel.
Theres no pleasing ppl no matter what.
Have you considered that the people complaining here and praising those things are not necessarily the same?... Of course you can't please everyone, that should be more than obvious.
It is really easy to generalize everything when all you can see is "internet people" talking, instead of stopping to think that there are multiple individuals that will voice their opinions when it is relevant for them to do so.
Personally I always hated those fights in DBZ, I think One Piece is mostly boring and takes way too long to get anywhere, and there is no fucking way I'm watching 600+ episodes to "get to the good part", a lot of people think like that too, this is far from being an unpopular opinion.
Anyway, they could have just condensed most of what was said without really losing the meaning behind it, like the whole argument on how they are going to take action... Imo a "show, don't tell" approach would have worked better, show them taking action and, if necessary, explain what is going on with a character's inner monologue and/or a quick flashback.
DBZ doesn't act so self aware that 6 episodes in you're wanting them to get to the point, because in that 6 episodes SOMETHING new happens in the battle or leading into it...no one was spoilering what was upcoming. Doesn't help your argument that the Funimation broadcast was cut down for Western Audiences and at worst 3 episodes was someone powering up, not blabbing about a plan across 2-3 episodes that could have been summed up within 15 minutes of ONE, TWO at the worst.
It's just so poorly done. It's just a slideshow of characters, that haven't even been introduced sometimes, talking to each others. There is zero tension, even the informations are almost the same each time. Politics have been the weak point of Slime since the beginning of season 2. Season 1 was way better at handling this.
Most people are watching this because of the fights (see the reactions at the end of S2 compared to the rest), otherwise they would have dropped it a long time ago. Plus the politics is really straightforward, it does not really need THAT MUCH exposition. Like Mahouka S3 (airing right now) is way more complex but weirdly enough nobody complain about the political episodes. I guess only the big fans remain now but still...
There has been 20 seconds of real action in s3 so far...
There have been 14 different LONG meetings in s3 so far...
Every episode has had 1-3 meetings in it. Every single one.
There has only been 1 episode that wasn't primarily about a meeting, and it was just about a random invention.
If you don't believe me look at this reddit post:
"Just to break down the episodes so far -
Episode 1
Re-capped the walpurgis meeting, then had a meeting about what Diablo had been up to in Falmuth with flashbacks to meetings in Falmuth.
Episode 2
Starts with a meeting between the clown people and the Japanese evil dude. We get a tiny bit of action between Hinata and Roy Valentin. Then Hinata, Roy and Luminous have a meeting. We finally cut back to Falmuth, for another meeting.
Episode 3
We’re back with our main cast in Tempest, for another meeting. Finally they mix things up and we get to go outside, To have another meet with the animal kingdom people. We then go in to the bar to talk to Geld about his problems. Then finally we’re back to the normal meeting room, for another meeting.
Episode 4
We start the episode still in our loveable usual meeting room. They then touch grass to check out this cool new invention that was created. This goes on for far too long so it’s finally back to our usual meeting room to talk some more. We stay here until the end of the episode.
Episode 5
It’s Hinata’s time to show off her meeting running skills. Clearly she’s OP as it last for 20 minutes! She then goes outside for a bit at the end.
Episode 6
Ah that’s better. Back to our usual meeting room too to discuss some more. This time with new characters joining the meeting fun. This goes on for a measly, pathetic 17 minutes because we have another meeting to watch. This time with other sinister people, in sinister chairs around an extremely sinister table. So sinister. That concludes the episode.
Total action - about 20 seconds."

These meetings are getting seriously boring and literally this is all what happens. I am so dissappointed in this season...someone tell me it will gets better and we move on from this part within 1-2 eps
Spoiler for what will probably happen next episode
Hinata and the Holy Knights will arrive at Tempest and fight. We will definitly see Tempest higher-ups against Holy Knights and maybe Rimuru against Hinata, but that duel could be pushed in the episode after that because at the same time Diablo will fight in the Farmus civil war
Whoever is directing this saw the good pacing of the manga and were like "Nope, having none of that."
This is almost an insult to the manga. Most of this talking doesn't happen in the manga, and what we do learn we learn through natural conversation. I have been a hardcore advocate of the series, but this season has been enough for me to say "Skip the anime, go read the source." It really pains me as a fan of the series.
It has been nothing but a bunch of talking since this season began. I'm all for some good exposition and worldbuilding but I can't help but wonder that this all could have been compressed into like two episodes max.
Even if it's a conference going on, at least show the described events on the screen. It's becoming less about enjoying it and more about somehow getting through the whole slogfest
I don't mind that we spend time on the politics at play but it's just bad directing to setup action and then blue ball for multiple episodes at a time. The manga is great, I haven't read the LN. Maybe since I read quickly I never noticed the issues in the manga, but still. If a show like Legend of the Galactic Heroes can tell an intricate political show without resorting to Phantom Menace tier: Shot, talk, over shoulder shot, talk directing, then why can't this one?
These meetings are nothing new to Slime. It has been like this before. First, there are serval episodes of build-up and planning, and only after all is prepared the big stuff happens.
And hostly, I like it a lot. Politics is an important topic in this anime in general, and this also makes totally sense since you need that to rule a country.

Politics are important and the main reason I love the show is because it takes the time to flesh out the world and make the economic and political side of this universe seem realistic (for an anime). But the same thing applies to a show like Game Of Thrones, which is also adapted from books. Politics play a key role in that series, but there was always action to be seen as well. There was never a moment in GOT where you felt like you were watching a series of meetings in various rooms. Tensei Slime isn't balancing lore exposition and action like it should be, and the lore exposition that we are getting is boring: Some things can just be shown instead of told. Some things don't need to be adapted. We are 6 episodes in, 25% through the season, and we have nothing to show for it. It's time for a new director and new writer. Hopefully season 4's pacing will make up for this. Such a great anime, it's too good for this treatment.
Some things can just be shown instead of told.
Yeah, I think, this is a totally valid point. Personally, I don't mind it, I like the meetings, but doing it that way would definitely be more appealing for the majority of the audience.
Regarding your comparison to GoT, there are several things about that show, that I would like to criticize, but the politics integration was indeed well done.
Agreed on GOT, it wasn't perfect (especially the ending since the final book still hasn't come out and probably never will), but overall it was a great show that proved world building worked best when there were realistic politics, and proved that politics didn't need to be boring.
Only sad thing is that Tensei Slime was doing such a great job at that until this season. I don't mind half an episode being a meeting, but I found myself getting uncomfortable and WISHING that episode 6 would just END. Usually I get sad when my weekly episode of Tensei Slime ends, but instead during this season I've been eager to just get it over with. I'm glad you're able to find enjoyment in it, I don't want the show to die because everyone stops watching.
The problem is not the politic, is basically the fact that is completely usless in this setup, they are by far , a lot stronger than anything the verse can cook , what is the use of sit and talk politely about trade and peace with people that dont understand and want to fight? we basically know the ending meaning , so is not the politics the problem. is basicaly the all thing.
I'm sorry what, they just casually pulled a modern gun out in this fantasy and magic show?!
Also I don't mind these talky and plot episodes too much, especially given Slime's battles tend to be so one sided they're almost pointless anyway, but they're not really saying anything interesting - Rimuru bumbles along in meetings where his minions make all the decisions and bad guys talk about vague in the shadow plots that will likely come to nothing.
Also I find it kinda funny last season they showed absolutely no mercy to the opposing army and wiped out every single person most of whom were basically innocent, and now we have another invading army but this time led by a pretty girl and it's like 'oh nooo we can't hurt any of them do it non lethally' lol (yes i know the previous time it was a sneaky ambush)
The reason Rimuru killed all those people in the battle last season is because he was left with no other choice; if he did nothing, his friends would remain dead. His stance has not changed, as he said in this episode's meeting, to prioritize their own if it comes to it during a battle with the knights and the other army.
Wake me up when something happens!
I worry for the fans that have brainwashed themselves to the point of thinking that this is how you deliver exposition dumps. Gotta try to make this stuff interesting. It's an entertainment medium. The challenge if you want to deliver important information is not putting the audience to sleep. Having a well established setting is not an excuse for a bad show. We aren't studying for an exam. The audience needs to understand what is going on and see enough to not believe things are being pulled out of thin air. That doesn't take 2.5 hours!
I would personally say last 6 episodes has been good, even great on some parts. This is exactly what was promised, this is not some battle shounen anime, and hopefully never goes to that direction. I don't mind action, if there is a point for it, but pointless action anime are boring, and there is tons of those already.
Personally I would prefer if anilist would remove action tag from anime, as in novel there isn't that, that can be misleading and change people expectations.
And one other thing to point out, action isn't main point in this series. That's the difference of source material, in novels pure action would be really boring, compared to manga.
Also one other thing, they skipped a lot of dialogues already on season 1 and 2 and jammed more combat, which most likely will bite them back on some point, or they change ordering (like discussion about angles was in this season, and originally it would have been in season 2) and now here will be some dialogues what are necessary to word building.
