Holy hell......
As an artist myself who understand the industry and understands what comes with the territory of wanting to become professional and what comes with that title having to deal with labels etc etc this episode hit like a TRUCK.
And a out of nowhere confession????
PEAK
ANIME.
It just keeps getting better and better.
There's just something about the characters and the writing which feels like such a breath of fresh air, I'm not good enough of a critic nor have I watched enough anime to really understand why I feel this way, but the conflicts and emotions feel so believable and real. All my expectations coming into this show has been adequately shattered.
I was honestly disappointed with that scene since momoka is 20 and nina is 17, I mean, it was kind of obvious since the first episode that they were going to do a scene like that with momoka and nina, but I didn't expect it to be SO direct, like, you can't come up with an excuse that she declared herself in any way other than romantic. I just hope they don't do the same with tomo and rupa in the next episodes...
There is nothing wrong with 3 years of age gap at 17 and 20. It's not even illegal anywhere in the world.
Yeah, I got PLENTY of complaints to be had about otaku culture about obsession with pedo shit, but this is not one of them. 17 and 20yo dating, especially when there is no risk of pregnancy (cuz yknow gay), is just about not problematic and countless relationships have started from this exact sorta age range
I'm much more concerned about their constant arguing and public outburts and threatening to punch and the actual slap and how generally deranged Nina is, but suspension of disbelief for a drama series I guess?
There is no reason as to why they would attempt to pull off something similar with Tomo and Rupa - it wouldn't make a lick of narrative sense. What Nina and Momoka share has been a particularly complex situation which has evolved over time, with the pair similarly afforded sufficient development for the confession sequence to feel earned. Tomo and Rupa do not enter the equation because the groundwork for anything remotely resembling romantic affection simply has not been laid down.
be so fuckin fr dog lmfaoooo no. no a 3 year "age gap" is not a problem. not in real life, not in fiction. ...buddy.. babe... like youre letting something really dumb and arbitrary ruin your enjoyment of something like stop and think about how approaching everything you consume as some moral action is making you unhappy/unable to enjoy things
I just don't like and find a relationship between a minor and an adult weird.
she is 20!! that's the cultural idea of when someone is barely an adult in japan!! And Nina is like... within a handful of months of turning 18 at most which is legally an adult here and there. And anyways three years is not an age gap. that's barely a difference. I hope youre not watching Whispering You a Love Song because Yori is gonna be adult 2-3 years before Himari is lmfao. this is not a relationship between minor or adult in a strictly legal or moral sense, theyre both like fall slightly on either side of the "legal" definition
Could be yuri(it was literal), could be yuri bait(the anime would forget about this scene), could be neither(fan to a life-changer idol relation).
But I can't understand why they would cry if the case was yuri
Emotional catharsis. Momoka had been holding back so very long and so very much everything she had been feeling, and the moment Nina said something so completely bold and unexpected, just broke the dam of emotions that had been held up in her for all this time, and she just could not hold back the tears anymore.
whos the pink hair girl in diamond dust that knows nina? I forgot, is she the one that was in the school? idrk
Absolute Cinema. I already really loved Nina's personality but this episode really takes it a step further.
I think being in the industry, constantly fighting to stay true to who Diamond Dust was/to who she (Momoka) truly was, eroded her resolve away. When she decided to drop out from middle school to pursue her dream along with the current Di Dust members, she was the same person as Nina is now. She had the drive, the resolve, the passion, and the talent to make it big out there. But after 5 years of fighting against the industry, everyone's resolve faded. The rest of the Di Dust members succumbed to being an idol group instead of staying true to who they are. Without anyone there who shared the same vision as her, Momoka finally decided to call it quits and leave the group.
I think this was a deep scar for Momoka. She became scared of doing it all over again and seeing the same results. However, the biggest difference is that there was no one there to support her when she was at her lowest point. This is where Nina really shines through. Nina has the same qualities that the younger version of Momoka had and then some. That's the reason why Momoka wanted to protect Nina from the industry, so she doesn't suffer and face the same fate. However, I really liked this line from Nina.
They may have similar qualities but they are not the same person. Nina is here because of her past. She has faced a lot of hardships, like the bullying at school, the constant pressure of following the rules from her parents, having no one there by her side when she is at her lowest point. Nina had her world constantly pushing her down but she never gave up. She kept pushing forward no matter what. That's the biggest difference between the young Momoka and Nina. The industry may try to shove things down her throat but she will never give in because she will fight for what she believes in no matter what.
How is she able to do that? It's because of Momoka and her songs. As long as Momoka is there and her songs are there she will never lose her path. Momoka needed Nina to show her just how much impact her songs had and to reignite the spark that she once lost. Nina's strength comes from Momoka and her songs. They both need each other to keep pushing forward, to stay true to themselves, and to truly achieve their dreams.
Really really good conclusion to the conflict in my opinion. It really shows the depth of these characters and how much their past affects who they are today. The overall theme of the show is staying to true to who you really are and this arc really emphasizes that in great detail.
