So, for now the question to "How we will adapt two volumes in 5 episodes" is being answered with: Just focus on Tatsuya's side, and that's kinda lame because one of the appeals from Ancient City Insurrection is seeing how the hunt for Zhou Ghonjin is an event that matters to all the magic society, not only the secret high spheres. Next episode Minoru should appear, and Tatsuya will spew that magic phrase that without any kind of narration to support it, if this anime had more following... I could see that turning really bad.
Cute ending with nice symbolism towards the next arcs, ASCA did a good song as always.
When I read this arc, many people told me it was one of the most boring ones, never understood why.

And also: Totally not sus
Yes, we completely have no idea why we were attacked a few days before our suspicio- I mean, before our totally normal trip to Nara of all places.
I wish Erika had a little bit of time to say what she said in the Novel though...
“See her to the door and back properly. Don’t forget to introduce yourself to her parents. If you don’t you’ll be mistaken for a stalker”
They really cut out the fun parts of the novel and just give us bare bones.
So I wasn't the only one that felt like they are moving way to fast with the plot. I somewhat get it, but the "friends" journey is what broke the monotone structure of emotionless Tatsuya. Previously there have been some signs of struggle for him, but this time he just breezes through.
With the focus being on Tatsuya we also get more of the "sisterly" love from Miyuki, which I usually defended, but this time there is too much of it.
Yeah, idk if it's just me growing up but I don't enjoy this series as much as I did back when it first aired. Story feels very rushed.
Yesterday, I did a reread of Double Seven chapter, and I found out they left more than 50% of the content out, not only scenes are shortened a lot but some plot threads were totally deleted. Although one of those I can see why they did it, when it involves touchy things that TV doesn't want anything to do with it.
