Mine was Pokemon. I remember when I was little they were used to pass it on the Tv.
But it's been a long time, the channel where I watched my first anime decided to no longer air anime. T_T
Also,Naruto is my second anime I saw.I was so addicted to watch this anime when I was a kid and even if I grew I still love it Haha XD
What are your first anime !? :)
I don't remember, but it was probably Sailor Moon when they used to show the dub back on TV.
Mine was
Bakuten Shoot Beyblade
Avatar The Last Airbender
Avatar doesn't count as Anime since it wasn't made in Japan.
Heck, there wasn't even a a Japanese animation studio that was involved in making it.
However, for Legend of Korra, a Japanese animation studio was involved in making it but it still doesn't count as an anime.
@KIn
its like saying women pee but pee is stored in the balls so women don't pee.
smh. anime is a style of art. avatar is an anime style that has also been dubbed to Japanese. get real
"smh. anime is a style of art.", "get real"
From wikipedia:
Anime is hand-drawn and computer animation originating from Japan. In Japan and in Japanese, anime (a term derived from the English word animation) describes all animated works, regardless of style or origin. However, outside of Japan and in English, anime is colloquial for Japanese animation and refers specifically to animation produced in Japan. Animation produced outside of Japan with similar style to Japanese animation is referred to as anime-influenced animation.
wait, so I'm partially right
The hell you on about? You said that anime is an art style. How are you even partially right?
Technically Neon Genesis Evangelion. I was 10 years old watching it with my brother and his best friend. They covered my eyes a lot because I was a blabber mouth and would have told my parents I saw naked girls in cartoons.
The first anime I completed was Rurouni Kenshin at the age of 15...about 13 years ago now. I consider it my first anime since I was then mentally capable of handling the medium like it deserved to be.
My first anime was probably either Pokemon or Sailor Moon as well (I can't remember) ^^'
However, my first "real" anime was Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch back when I was in 5th grade. This was when I realized that all of those shows I watched as a kid were actually an entirely different medium from this country called Japan. You can imagine how my life has changed since ^.^
It'd have to be Pokemon. But at that time, I had no idea I was actually watching an anime (dubbed on "Kids' WB!"). I even collected all kinds of cards for it, including Japanese versions, and I wasn't able to put 2 and 2 together; I guess I figured they were special editions shipped overseas but made available to NA collectors. haha well, I was only 8 or 9, give me a break.
However, after I developed an understanding of the anime industry (thanks to /b/, as disappointing as that may be to some), the Madoka series was my first start-to-finish viewing. A very rough introduction to the world of animu, needless to say. But the important thing is that I was instantly engaged from there on out.
To be honest, my first anime was Hayate no Gotoku. Found it online a while back. Breaking the 4th wall every 5 minutes was something I just found hilarious (even though I didn't understand many of the references until later after watching more anime). I didn't watch Pokemon, Naruto, One Piece, and such like many others until after I had gotten into anime.
This was way before cable but, for me, it was classic Lupin, Vampire Hunter D and Wicked City. This was long time ago when a local channel would just air unedited anime shows/movies on Fridays. Then years later after that it was Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Trigun and InuYasha on Adult Swim (or Toonami. I forget).
Before I was aware of anime: Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto and Dragon Ball Z.
When I became aware: Shingeki no Kyojin.
First anime I started watching was Bleach but the first one I completed was Death Note. Fun times, fun times. Think I was in 7th or 8th grade when I finished Death Note, and after that I watched Code Geass. From there the addiction grew and it seems that the older I get the more anime I watch lol.
Yeah I started watching Bleach first seriously this Jan, but before I used to see parts of One Piece and some of Naruto dubbed (2006 this was) and this was also back when I was stupid and oblivious and thought that Shaman King, One Piece, Bleach and Naruto were the only anime in the world. Some guy I was...
Once upon a time I used to think there could only be maybe 30 total anime series. And then I discovered websites dedicated to streaming anime. And websites that let you keep track of what you have watched. One of the happiest moments in my life when I was younger was when I discovered these two things.
My anime life started when I fell in love with anime and said 'Screw u clichéd American drama!'
lol. Yeah. I pretty much did the same thing. Random Person From School (RPFS): "Did you see that episode of (insert whatever they watched that was on T.V. yesterday but is not anime)? It was so good!" Me: "Never heard of that show before. I don't really watch whats on the T.V. Nothing I really want to watch here. It's all the same anyway. It's like no one even tries to make anything original." RPFS: "Oh, okay..."
When I was much younger, I'd watch the big three and DBZ, as well as a few others that I couldn't recall at this point. Once I had actually started getting into anime, my first series was Fate/Stay Night original, movie (which was before) was Summer Wars. First once in community were Samurai Champloo and Code Geass.
I watched anime when I was little, such as Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but the first anime I properly watched from start to finish was watched some time in 2013. A friend told me about a little anime by the name of Death Note, and after finishing it, I moved on to Code Geass, which quickly became (and still is), my favourite anime to date.
