I literally almost forgot this was even coming out lol came out so late into the season.
Interesting start but not enough for me to really give an opinion I guess most of it will lie on how interesting this case will be
What did yall think?
Art-style is unique and pleasant on the eyes and the whole vampire storyline is interesting. The initial “pre-OP” sequence was a little confusing as I figured he was human fighting off vamps but I guess they’re the only race.
As for things I didn’t like. All the crying and screaming from kids, I get that the shows called “Delico’s Nursery” but god damn those scenes were like nails on a chalkboard for me. The second is that he’s miraculously calm about his “friend” having stabbed his wife through the heart. I’m sure we’ll find out more in regards to the circumstances leading up to the action, but for now it felt odd to give it a “Will of the world” vibe. As if, if it didn’t happen he never would’ve been an astute/attentive father, so it’s for the greater good…
I’ll keep watching for now but we’ll need to dial back the wailing children if JC Staff wants another viewer :)
a great start to a new TRUMP series entry! i've only personally started diving into the TRUMP series just last month or so, but Suemitsu's writing is as gripping and heart wrenching as i expected through every stage we've seen so far. (still gotta watch like 4 more but at least got to GG right before the anime started airing)
i'd say also that watching the prequel stage, Grand Guignol, is recommended but not exactly required to watch Delico's Nursery! i'd just recommend going in with that in mind, that flashbacks won't exactly be expounded upon cause they already happened in the stage play.

I just started reading the manga after discovering that there is an extended universe for this anime, do you have any recommendations for getting into watching the stage plays (especially Grand Guignol)?
I've been having trouble figuring out how to access them.
Sorry for the late response! to get into the stage plays, i'd say it's best to start from as close to the start as you can, but there's a whole lot of revisions and reruns. firstly link here's a link to a fan resource you can use for tl'd plot summaries and a timeline (spoilers all over the place tho if you just want the en subs they have linked)
Now as for watching the stages, there's Multiple ways to go about finding them (wink wink) but if you wanna go the cheapest and most legal way, everything from the 2013 run of TRUMP to the 2022 Musical Verachicca are available to stream on DMM TV if you have a premium sub. Premium sub is only like 550 yen a month, and the first month you get a free trial.
All you'd need is a VPN to be able to access the site and stream. for that i'd reccomend using SoftEther and using any Japanese based connection node that isn't marked "Public" (you may need to test around until you find a stable one that works for you)
From there you can overlay the soft subtitles with a program like Penguin Subs and you're ready to get angsty

When characters design are somewhat raw but okayish - you can say it's artistic choice, backgrounds are just bad. Looks like photos with too much cartoonish filters. It's much worst than most low budget anime. On top of that, these stand in huge contrast to the style in which the characters are drawn.
I might be alone in this opinion but the art is awful... All backgrounds look like photos with some quick AI filter. In many scenes, half of the characters have no face, and when they are close up, the face is uneven or looks unfinished.
I genuinely feel like I'm just looking at a storyboard draft. It looks unfinished, and even unapproved by whoever got the final say. I'll go as far as saying this is unacceptable, as someone who got into anime for the art. Gonna have to drop this after only a couple mins. This could have been an absolute feast for the eyes had they put more effort into it. Whatever this style or trend is called, I do not like it and will go out of my way to avoid it /:
