todays episode was amazing for me. I really dont understand why some people are hating on this so much I truly enjoyed this one and prefer season 2 over first one
I think the reason ppl don’t like this season is because the adaptation is beyond poor, putting the obvious animation errors aside the pacing is really bad and the tonal shifts do not help with the emotional impact. Music direction has been all over the place too. The reason why I’m still stubbornly watching is the characters and the story.
There are a lot of characters which I want to know more about. And the story is constantly building up stakes which makes me want to see the pay-off.
Talking about the episode,
I liked the character of Rachel because she’s been built up to being this maniacal yet conniving psychopath and I hope to see how she became who she is.
What I also liked in this episode was how they paralleled Bam and Rachel’s dialogue showing the characters’ traits. Bam expressing guilt over his actions even though he was coerced and Rachel repeatedly declaring the denial of her actions as wrong because she believes (or wants to make herself believe) they are justified.
For this anime we have to split the judgement in two parts. On one side, you have the story, the character, the setting, the plot twists, the character design. All of these are the creation of the original author, SIU. On the other side you have the transposition from the anime studio.
People who haven't read the mahnwa can still enjoy the anime, if they don't focus too much on production, because of how good the original material is. Some other will hate it anyway. People who love the original source can still watch it, to support the author, and hoping for a better continuation. But right now is very disappointing.
This episode was a slide show. Most scenes are static pictures with just one mouth moving, and a slow horizontal pan of the camera to give an impression of movement. Static, neutral faces, with no change in expression even when talking about killing people. For comparison, here is a single panel from the manhwa.
If you enjoyed this episode, tag along and tight your belt! If this season is 26 episodes long, from now on there will be some fun! I hope they don't rush it too much
The way the anime is performing important scenes with a severe drop in animation quality is so frustrating. I have read a bit before this season dropped and so far it's been pretty average when it comes to the adaption. I hate to say that since the fights and story are actually amazing but the anime really just hasn't shown enough impact at all. For example: when Khun showed up and Rachel stabbed Dan there wasn't enough of a build up nor enough of shock to make it serious enough. That's just my take on this recent episode, I am just hoping that everything is being saved for the Bam vs Urek Mazino fight.
I really dont understand why some people are hating on this so much
The endless yapping in the middle of poorly choreographed fight scenes, for one. Two being they're ~half-way through the season and the biggest plot point is Rachel still being a bitch...like we didn't already know that from the 'superior' first season.
There's no suspense or anticipation: we anticipate her being a bitch going forward, and FUG are nothing more than a cliche underground organization pulling weak strings we've seen in every Hollywood TV drama for the past 30 years.
