After these 2 episodes of recap + added pre-isekai content, we finally pick up from where season 1 ended. Still dunno how I feel about the animation/characters designs (prefer season 1), but I'm hoping the characters don't act completely different than they did in the previous season.
My problem isnt so much that we spent two episodes on recap (which is bad enough), but the recap tried very hard to retcon season 1. Unfortunately the execution of this series isn't good enough to pull that off cleanly, so it feels unnatural.
I said this about the first season - it felt like they gathered a bunch of top talent and told them to perform as poorly as possible. In spite of that, I still didnt dislike that season because it was cohesive. This season though. They are trying really hard to perform even worse than season 1, and the story is jumping all over the place trying to retcon stuff.
I couldn’t have said it better! I agree with you wholeheartedly.
The people working on this one feels lacking in all aspects… I was expecting a mediocre but fun like how it was in the first season, instead we got mix of bad direction that made this anime feels bland af.
Even the OSTs are trying hard to ruin this anime lmao.
I can't disagree with you at all, but even with all of its flaws, I'm still very grateful to get even this much.
I had actually just rewatched the first series and remembered how much I love it like a week before they announced this one, and I was so excited because I definitely wanted more of this cool isekai that actually has a proper adult for the protagonist instead of the smiling doormat that we usually get in most anime.
Anyway, yeah I was disappointed that they changed the art style and even changed their hairstyles for some reason, but after a few episodes I got used to it - although the sadistic surgeon Yu looks like freaking GARBAGE and doesn't even have a shred of her old scary/creepy vibe.
They definitely sped pretty quickly through the story arcs as well, which kinda sucks because you didn't get those feel good scenes that you normally get in this type of series, like coming back home after a mission and bonding with the new friends and allies they've made along the way - which I personally think provide a very important and endearing contrast to the drama and battles in isekais, and an essential ingredient to the overall formula.
Either way, if this is all we get then I'll take it, because we've all seen too many good series get cut short and never continued, so we gotta celebrate the small victories like this :)
*Also, I know it's not what we hoped it would be, but I think the 56/100 score on here is some absolute b.s. I just finished the season like 10 minutes ago, and it was not that bad at all - in fact, once I got used to the new art, fast pacing and bad animation, I honestly enjoyed it very much. I will probably give it at least an 8/10 to try and balance the score a tiny bit.
