I thought the first episode was pretty good. The animation falters a bit but it works well. I already want to see how the story progresses and see how Kirishima falls deeply in love. See you next Monday ♡ !
This is the first time I'm watching an anime adaptation of a manga that I discovered when it was pretty obscure. Nice to see some grown-up story, even it still revolves around highschoolers...
I'm not sure how they will cope with battle scenes further in the series, as the animation is soo.. glitchy? Also tried to figure out how much story is going to be adopted from the manga, because imo chapter ~37 would be a good end point for the series, but i doubt they will have enough screen time to present the story without pacing problems.
I loooove Hitomi Ueda as Yoshino va, but i fear that Kirishima's va is not going to suit his character very well - maybe i will change my mind later on
Overall. i enjoyed it mostly because i'm fond of the manga, i hope it will make me more invested in the show in the future episodes c:
I'm dying for it. I haven't read this manga in specific, but I'm a huge fan of A Girl & Her Guard Dog, which is also a yakuza story and has a lot of similar–what some would call–"toxic" topics. I have high hopes.
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! The stylization of their hair had me iffy at first when I saw the trailer, and I'm still a little hesitant on how they'll handle it during the future action scenes, but liked it a lot more than when I initially saw it.
Voice acting: LOVE Yoshino. She's so expressive! Kirishima I feel like his voice is attractive but v guarded! So hopefully it opens up as he falls for Yoshino.
Expressions: I love that they kept the comedic reactions and Yoshino's more comical looks. I think they could stage some of the more yakuza threatening scenes better, but I also understand the studio is following the manga's paneling/staging.
Art Style: I love how vibrant these characters are in the world! Cant wait to see how they compare in different environments and juxtaposed to other characters as they appear.
I checked and this episode covered like 2/3 of the first volume. So Im very curious to see how they will pace it and if we are gonna get to chapter 38 by the end.
Overall looking forward to more episodes!
I love that they kept the art style of the manga and Yoshino's expressions. I like her VA too! I'm also concerned about the pacing. Considering the manga is still ongoing and has hit a slower pace releasing as of late, I wonder how quickly they'll catch up. I also wonder how much creative freedom they will take with filler and changing things here and there.
Really liked the first episode, I was worried Yoshino was going to be a pusharound and just subjected to abuse and nothing more, but I'm glad to see her taking a stance, that way we have a very toxic relationship from both sides, which is how I wanted this to be!!!
Hoping this continues for the rest of the series. I'm loving Yoshino so much!!!
As someone who REALLY loves this manga and series, I am worry that the studio did not do the series justice until the end.
Pro: Yoshino was done REALLY well. Also the end song, they showcase the coolest/best illustrations of the series.
Con: Not a fan of the art of my husbando, Shouma. TT^TT Also the animation is off at time.
Started it simply because of how old school the character designs are taking me back to that 80's/90's CLAMP look. Stayed because the two of them are twisted in their own way. This is the kind of stuff I read all the time when it comes to my manhwa preferences. Will probably seek out the manga in the future.
