Really interesting seeing a little more of Kitami's perspective in the beginning (also we got confirmation that it was aliens that killed his family and that he wasn't an unreliable narrator). Also very curious to see who the detective at the end is and how things will play out now that there's a human detective around.
I'm so confused where the story stands. Because for a second you think "oh, maybe people WERE reading too much into it, and this isn't some far right thing." but then you had the karen mom saying that looking left is "traumatic" for her son because of that guy at the end. Is this commentary on the woke left or not????
i think the manga has kinda an anticolonialist approach. The aliens are technologically superior than the humans and have the militar power over them (the sky is filled with alien spaceships). They are the bosses at work and the ones that have the "special treatment" because they are the "saviors" of mankind. I just think it can be related to the american occupation of Japan more than a xenophobe thought (which it can be too, japanese can be so xenophobic). Let's see what's more has to come.
