Yeah, this was like, made just for Jinwoo to show off lol. I remember loving this part back then, besides the Jeju Island stuff, this was one of those times he just went full power, no holding back. And ofc, everyone had Pikachu faces ‘cause, like, he was just their equipment carrier… even worse, an E-rank. Then boom, shadow army everywhere, Jinwoo flipping around and wrecking an entire army that would’ve wiped out a bunch of A-rank hunters like it was nothing. Yeah, no wonder their brains short-circuited.
The animation was crazy good this episode, guess the staff knew this was a big deal. That Doctor Doom-looking dude had zero chance lol. I kinda feel bad for him… LIKE, REALLY. So many people watching, Cha Haein, Woo Jinchul, and all, there was just no way Jinwoo wasn’t gonna look like some kind of unlimited aura god. The secret’s out. And rip Cha Haein, no more secret Jinwoo-sniffing this time :(
A-1 went absolutely nuts with the fight scenes. Now the world knows, or is at least starting to get the idea, that Jinwoo is just built different xD
This might just be one of the best things I've watched this year (so far), which I know isn't saying much since we're only 2 seasons in, but I doubt we'll get a lot of shows that'll rival this one. I already went in with high expectations, and even then they were somehow thrown straight out of the ballpark, whatever A-1 cooked here was fucking insane, shit had me grinning like an idiot the whole time.
Absolute cinema

[Heavy manga spoilers] So when Tusk gets defeated he sees the shadows standing above him that turn into the other shadows and then get distorted and stuff - this is hinting to the existence of monarchs and stuff, but was the shadow that killed him actually Bellion? You can tell by the face and helmet they look very similar? Am I imagining things? Or is this a huge foreshadowing only present in the anime?
The episode was wild! Honestly, after season 1, I really thought the anime was gonna flounder like God of highschool or Tower of God. I thought It was gonna be another botched manhwa adaption, but no, they're nailing this season. I'm so glad to be wrong. Solo Leveling deserves a quality adaption and I feel like they're doing the art of the story justice.
I mentioned this elsewhere, but the igris 2v1 brought me back to the naruto days, where the whole budget was thrown at the super technical close quarter combat. Because when Naruto wanted to showoff, holy fuck was it impressive and that was the same vibe i had here. I pray their budget and resources increase for the rest of the story.
Great episode. Definitely fun watch, but not without flaws. Can't have no criticism, since the reveal scene is very important to me. The whole reveal seemed to be skimmed over. I remember him taking his sweet time being oblivious, fucking around with Tusk and his soldiers count, while normal people watched on.
Maybe it's been a while since I've read the manhua, but I don't think he was being this smug and enthusiastic. At least in front of enemies, he would be dead serious, and later on, would become rather disinterested. Well, "predator smiling at prey" might have been in his repertoire, but that was not it.
Animation holds up, but the background fights need a bit more love. Looked like turn-based combat. It felt like drinking expensive bourbon and doing cheap vodka shots in between sips.
