tatami galaxy
first up i really wanna watch this anime, but there are many hurdles in my way.
a) all my life i've preferred dub over sub since my reading speed is very slow and tatami galaxy's sub is really hard to cope up with, even for a sub watcher
b) its not available in dub either
c) the anime is complex and hard to grasp and considering i'd be struggling to read the texts and will have to pause after every 5 sec and wont be able to concentrate on the actual plot and the visuals sounds extremely hectic
pls drop any suggestions u have, or how did ya'll watch the show?
Yeah the dialogue is very quick, but I personally got used to it after a few episodes. I definitely missed a bunch of dialogue in the first 2 or 3 episodes, but once you get used to it you'll be able to read quickly enough to get most of it. Most of the dialogue is just random banter anyway so you'll be able to understand the plot even if you miss some dialogue
a) The sub isnt really all that bad, yea there are parts where its really fast, but most the time its p average speed. Plus there isnt really all that wrong with going back if you miss something during the faster moments.
b) The sub is fine
c) Its not THAT complex, the whole point of the show can be summarized in a short sentence.
There really isnt much to fear, id say try to watch it and see how you like that. If you can keep up and whatnot. Your reading speed improved the more you do it, so maybe watch subs for slower stuff :D
I only watch anime in sub and this one annoyed me so much because of how fast the dialogue is, it's one of the reasons why I dislike Tatami Galaxy. Maybe the issue wouldn't be that bad if it was that alone, but his monologues mix up a lot of uncommon words where my brain needs a bit longer to comperhend so I paused a lot. Overall I don't mind pausing, I definetly did do that for Monogatari series, but here it's just a nonsense banter most of the time.
I feel like the first scene was very fast on purpose and it got better after that. It's still fast sometimes though, but not as bad. And you kind of get the gist after a while since most things said don't even make that much sense and will repeat itself every episode in a slightly different manner. You don't need to pause every time and just accept that you won't catch everything since you don't need to.
The show's dialogue speed is incredibly fast (thanks to the fast-thinking nature of our protagonist), so it will be expected to not catch every piece of dialogue. But, it's a joy in rewatching it, as now you know where it's heading and the dialogue can be a bit more understood, and maybe even the jokes! Tatami Galaxy ended up being one of my favorite shows, giving it sometime and revisiting it might help.
Nah it really is just insanely fast. But don't worry, you'll get used to it in like 3 or 4 episodes, and like 90% of the dialogue is just random banter anyway so you're still gonna understand the story even if you miss a bunch of dialogue. In fact I think it's probably intended that you miss some of it
