[BIG SPOILERS] Pokémon Horizons March 13th CoroCoro New Info
Spoilers are everywhere here, you have been warned. I'll spoiler tag the first image just to be safe.
Half of this just gonna be me yapping my ass off just a heads up lmao, I'll try to break stuff down and whatnot. But I can't help myself with this.
I was at fucking McDonalds when I saw this, and over an hour later yea I'm still losing my shit. So on Pokemon Day they revealed that they'll have new info on Horizons on the 14th (13th for us cause of timezones) along with a trailer of a very hidden Roy mega evolving a shiny lucario. I along with probably many others, went crazy over this.
And not even an hour after I asked about the potential news to a friend, we get the reveal (was still at work so I didn't see it till later and just got home). For what I'm pretty sure is the first time ever, we're getting an honest to god timeskip in the main Pokemon anime. Not a spin off, not a movie, not an ova, the main Pokemon anime.

Theirs not much small details we can take from this but I'll still break it down as best as I can. Liko has a Meowscarada, I miss Floragato already but I love Meowscarada just as much so this is more then fine. But oddly despite this literally being a timeskip, Roy and Dot's starters haven't fully evolved yet. Dot I get as she was never much of a battler compared to the other two, despite being skilled at it. But Roy? Years gone by and you still ain't evolved that Crocalor yet? Bro got that Lucario and ran with it lmao.
Though if I had to guess, they probably wanna keep them in their second stages to show them evolving into their final form on screen. Because if it happened off screen that'd be beyond lame.We don't officially know how long this skip is and I doubt we will learn the amount of time gone by until we actually get to this point. But judging by how the other two haven't evolved their starters, and look about 2-3 years older. I'd guess around their is how much time has gone by since the ending of Rakua.
Liko still has Terapagos, which THANK GOD SHE DOES. I honestly wish they hid this to keep the suspense and dread up more, but I'm so fucking happy Pagogo is still here. The most worrying thing from this reveal image is the very strange lack of Friede. Captain Pikachu is still here, but no Friede? Theirs theorize going into this already started up by others but imma keep it real, I kinda don't wanna go into that and be surprised. I doubt Friede is dead dead as the ship is still there in the background so he's going to be brought up at some point whether he's around or not.
Mega Evolution is coming back which I'm very happy about, but I didn't expect the new face to also get one. And yeah, we have a new face around the crew. Ult is his name and he's a rival to Roy and thats THANKFULLY all we know about him. Now unlike Love Live Superstar, I'm down with this new addition to the crew. Any of the peeps who read mine and Dia's threads/comments knows that we aren't the biggest fans of Roy. I personally felt that he's been the most lackluster out of the trio as he's at his best when Rayquaza is around, and when it isn't which is most of the series he's just kinda there. So having an actual rival and a new goal is a great way to finally give Roy some very needed love.
Now then, the rest of this thread is just gonna be me reverting to a man child and gushing. THESE NEW DESIGNS LOOK SO FUCKING GOOD. LIKO JUST FEELS LIKE A NATURAL UPGRADE. DOT LOOKS SO CUTE, HAS SHE SURPASSED IONO IN SUBSCRIBERS? IK THE SHIPPERS ARE GONNA GO CRAZY WITH THESE TWO EVEN MORE NOW. BUT ROY HOLY SHIT ROY, HE HAS FUCKING SAUCE NOW BRO LOOK AT HIM. The second image not as much tho BUT THE FIRST ONE? NAH HE GOT THAT SHIT ON BRO. ULT LOOKS DOPE TOO PEOPLE ARE SAYING HE LOOKS OGERPON SHAPED WHICH IS FUNNY BUT THAT WOULD BE KINDA SICK IF THERE WAS SOME RELATION THERE IDFK.
I'm very excited to see what a post Rakua Pokemon Horizons looks like, I never even imagined we'd get this of all things but it's a very welcoming surprise. Super curious to see what y'all think about this. Pokemon Horizons continues to be the best thing the Pokemon anime has ever done.
Edit: I just noticed Friede's Pikachu is on Roy's page. Never fucking mind I'm scared now, WHAT HAPPENED TO FRIEDE.
To be honest, I haven't found Horizons to be the most enjoyable thing in the world(not to say it's bad in any capacity), but I am EXCITED AS HELL FOR THIS
The amount of potential for something even better than XYZ, which is highly regarded as the peak of Pokemon in terms of its anime, is insane.

My assumption for Friede is that it's kind of an inheritance thing rather than anything too dark, don't want to step into THAT territory.Roy and Dot's starters not being evolved is also surprising for me as well. Same with Liko's Hattrem. I guess they still want these evolutions to happen on screen?
Also, their obsession with Mega Lucario is going to make me so insane, PLEASE LET MORE MEGAS HAVE THE SPOTLIGHT. IMAGINE ROY WITH SOMETHING LIKE A MEGA GALLADE

Nah I get it I definitely have a huge bias towards the series, its basically impossible for me to remove it completely honestly.

Big agree on this, I hope they cook with whatever they got planned for this timeskip cause a pokemon timeskip alone is already huge. I hope this works out.

Roy got lucario but what about liko? I hated go in sword and shield series because he got many good pokemons instead of ash. So I hope it's not gonna happen here and liko will get any new pokemon too
I can see the other two getting new pokemon during this arc. And we can't forget about Pagogo, we were worried that it might've left with Lucius after Rakua. But it doesn't seem like thats the case. Though theirs been theorys going around about it being stuck in a sleep again.
I didn't watch new episode yet but I'm curious what gonna happen with lucious and his 6 pokemons
dw I haven't seen it either. I'm just piecing things together from the limited info that we know. Hopefully we get to see lucius's team again in this next arc
Similar to Zeraph I have a pretty muted reception to Horizons (I find it about as good as JN, there's some good high points and some so-so lulls, but a solid kids show nonetheless) Unlike Zeraph I also have a somewhat muted reaction to this news... kinda.
Like I am curious, I'm interested to see how our lead characters change as well as in what way the story will evolve (RIP Friede, bro got sealed in the white orb. 20 points for anyone who knows what I'm referencing.) but I'm also not expecting the show to suddenly negate all of the issues I've had with it prior and for it to suddenly become peak fiction or anything. For example I had a complaint starting in the the 20s or so that the show kept a annoying tight Leash on What Liko and Roy could do as trainers (i.e. trainer battles with opponents relative to theirs in strength, being able to get themselves out of dangerous conflicts, etc) and Friede seemingly bailing them out all of the time. It did thankfully lessen over time and I can see why the approach may have been taken if they always planned for this time skip to happen. Doesn't mean I like the approach either way I think we missed a lot of chances to have some interesting characterization via smaller conflicts but that's just me. There's also stuff like how team explorers have been handled overall as well being a giant mixed bag for me which might change over time but c'mon it's been 80 something episodes I'm not holding my breath. Also Roy getting a shiny mega Lucario... yeah sure ok... rip Kiloatterels screentime.
The new kid looks about as young as our main trio at the start of the series so I wonder in what way he's connected to Roy, I thought he was an old classmate but maybe he's a resident of the island Roy lives on? Iunno. To me Horizons has been at it's best when it focuses on character drama so hopefully if nothing else we get more of that interspersed with whatever this newer plot line will be.
Also I was pretty neutral to Pokemon having a floating timeline before, like I never cared that Ash and co never aged cuz the series worked around that and people really need to chill on acting as if people need to be mad all of a sudden that it never happened until now. It's one thing if that's what you always wanted but don't push that shit onto me go stay in your lane bub.

I'm a little more okay with this, it is very repetitive in the beginning but I think logically it does make sense. Since the two were still very new as trainers and battling, Friede being there to help them checks out. By the time Terastal Debut came and went, Friede knew they could handle themselves now. Could've of it happened earlier tho? Absolutely.
There's also stuff like how team explorers have been handled overall as well being a giant mixed bag for me which might change over time but c'mon it's been 80 something episodes I'm not holding my breath.
Yeah I do hope the end of this arc isn't the last time we'll see them either. Besides maybe Amethio I think all of the other members need something more to them other then their loyalty to Gibeon and Sango clearly being the fan favorite which god I wonder why.
