I hear the webtoon is rushed after the first season (which is where the second season of the anime ends).
So should I read the webnovel instead? How much would I miss out by reading the webtoon instead?
Honestly, the webtoon's way better than the novel. First of all, because of the illustrations, and lastly because I think the novel lacks of good writing. I mean SL is not really good when it comes to writing for a lot of reasons. But the manhwa was better handled by the writer compared to the novel, which seemed a little chaotic and botched. You will probably lose some secondary details but from my perspective it's not a problem in SL's case.
Any fan of the series will tell you to read the manhwa. It is better than the novel in effectively every way. Though, I will note, the trend of each adaptation improving on the material it is adapting is absolutely continuing and the anime is in my opinion superior to the manhwa as well. That being said, the webnovel is practically not even worth reading it my opinion.
I would say that reading the novel is the way to go if you are worried about pacing. I haven't read it myself, but I noticed enough of a change with the manga's pacing in the later half that I stopped liking it as much.
It went from something I looked forward to reading weekly, to something I left to binge read couple times a year until it finished releasing.
