Damn looks like people have lost interest by now, not that I can blame them.
I'm continuing this just because so here ya go.
This ep was fairly more faithful in adapting content.
They adapt the meeting with Cynthia they'd skipped earlier (chps 34-37) and then 45-47 and half of 48
FYI: No future spoilers
Differences/ things left out
Honestly job well done in not skipping TOO much.
It annoys me they don't say out loud that Arthur is a quadra-elemental mage with lightning and ice deviant powers.
Heck they refuse to use the word deviant even.
Arthur thought of Cynthia as a "unique" mage. DEVIANT. WHY WONT THIS SHOW SAY IT.
More on this part in ep 9 diff here - https://anilist.co/forum/thread/82302/comment/2896226
The Jasmine volunteering to travel with Arthur and birthday party was mostly same.

For some inexplicable reason they skipped Arhur putting on his cool voice changing mask at the end.

And I need to mention how they keep Sylvie looking like a cat lol make her more menacing like a dragon.
Last ep next week
I'm confused at all the hate I see this getting. It seems pretty good to me and better than some other anime i've watched in terms of quality
It isn't just their animation quality. But it's also that they are changing the story itself and the world mechanics. This will cause plot holes and confusion later in the anime if it continues.
Ah, I didn't know about any of that. I wonder why they did it though. Do you know what they changed specifically
Boy do I have the thing for you ~ if you wanna know what they've skipped read these

wtf. It's not like a lot of these changes would've required that much effort to stay true to the original. Why change it for no literal reason. There's a reason why people fell in love with the original and that's because its the ORIGINAL. They didn't fall in love with some modified version of it. At least overall it seems somewhat intact and isn't the worst and was still enjoyable to watch for me
Also wtf happened to the characters. They look so cool in some of the panels you showed and Arthur seems way cooler. The mask thing also confuses me since I saw it in the OP and then he suddenly got in the anime? Like why did they cut that part out *unless i just missed that but i don't think so
Yeahhh ikr the character designs in the manhwa are SO much more expressive and well drawn but in the anime they're all basically watered down versions.
As you said exactly, I don't understand why they're skipping these details coz it's not that big an effort literally stick to the source story.....but that's the sign of a low quality adaptation sigh
I was dissapointed to be fair with the fight against Cynthia, felt bland unlike the one from the manga ... and also it took place in the academy?!(in the anime). Anyways, i just hope in season 2 it will make it more justice the anime. So far from the mangas that i have seen into anime this is the worst adaptation imo.
As someone who has only seen the anime, this going on a journey action feels off. I'm not sure if it's because of how everyone keeps saying they skipped a bunch of stuff but... I'll try to put my thoughts together.
Okay. So let's look at the protagonist's goals and motivations.
Now he has two choices.
Of course, knowing plot devices he will meet strong enemies which will make him stronger. But as a character, he doesn't know that. For all intent and purposes, he's basically going away on a whim.
I have a sneaking suspicion it's because the anime producers feels like going on a journey is more interesting than a school arc, even if it goes against the character's goals. We literally had an episode where he refused to go to school because he would rather spend time with his family. This decision makes absolutely no sense.
To those who read the manga, does it make more sense there? If so, what's the context that i'm missing from only watching the anime?
manga reader here, i understand why you might think that, its not the anime, he goes on the journey in the manga too. I didn't watch the episode so I'm not sure if they cut it or not but i remember he chooses to wait to go to school later so he's the same age as his peers. That's why he decides to go adventuring instead.
I kinda understand your pov about it so I've found some snippets for you to explain why Arthur wants to be an adventurer @Zerald
TBATE Season 1 has offcially ended. Though the anime is failed to give the viewers the same feeling they had while reading the web novel or manhwa since it lacked in both animation and story, I personally enjoyed it. Like his interaction with the girls and also his reunion with his family as well. As for the girls, even though Jasmine is not the main character, I still support her compared to Tessia. Why? Like Tessia story in the novel obviously made most of the fans mad due to her decisions and her interaction with Arthur and Slyvie. Though turtleme obviously choose Tessia as the one who will end up with him. Also, I really hope they animate a lot of chapters. I mean they are doing time skips anyway, so it have few chapters in it already. Let's see how season 2 deliver the animation and story compared to season 1. (My Score: 8)

even though the animation was shit or how some stuff was tbf confusing or had no elaboration, this was one of the anime that had still managed to illicit some feelings out of me. I was also hooked on what happened next every week... that's kinda out of the norm when it comes to "slop" like this, and now I'm interested in the source material.
my rating:
gonna read the manwha/10
