A new war is approaching. We got some good action in this season.
Mixed feelings with this season. As always, the action is great and the writer adds a layer of story and introspection you don't usually see in a delinquent anime. Theirs more to it than just getting into fights, you see characters grow and change.
For me ig that unlike season 1 I didn't connect much to the character arcs or themes besides these ones: With the first part, I get the whole being so ashamed that you don't look at how people really view you and just assume. Its a good theme and I can relate to it (mildly). The grandpa one was pretty sweet not seeing the signs and being in a state of doubt if your partner really likes you was interesting to see.
My favorite part was sakura learning to open up and rely on others. The whole tight rope sequence was extremely well done on multiple levels. That part of the season where you follow sakuras development was easily the part that interested me the most.
But with the rest I didn't feel much. The girl that sings has the "let them take me away so my friends don't suffer even though what I really want is to stay with those I want" conflict, having scene that conflict in so many shows, it didn't do anything for me. That whole sequence bored me since it didn't do anything unique with her dilemma for it to feel any different or special compared to other shows that have done it.
I didn't have any interest in tsubakis character dilemma either. At least its unique I haven't seen that in that many stories I've watched or read but I cant relate to it at all so find myself not caring at all. The guy who was dirt poor and his dilemma was interesting and engaging. I found the juxtaposition between him and tsubaki to be pretty shallow, though but I get what the writer was trying to do. I just found the whole makeup angle weird, considering who he is fighting.
I didn't like how easily resolved this was but I get the vibe that's how the show is so that's on me for wanting something different.
Overall I feel like its almost or just as good as last season but I just didn't connect with the conflicts and characters that were focused on in this season (besides sakura). I hope I vibe more with the next season
Very good season at worst. And looks like next season will have a darker and more tense story.
I thought this season was a bit better than the first one, still keeping the solid animation. The fight against the Keels was well choreographed and kicked off Sakura’s development, which kept progressing during the Roppo Ichiza arc too. Besides Sakura, the Furin duo that really stood out were Kaji and Tsubakino.
The final episodes introduced Yamato Endo, followed by the other beast who showed up at the end, Chika Takiishi. It adapted up to chapter 90, and I’d give it an 8.5. Really hoping for a season 3, 'cause things are about to get wild. Sakura vs. Endo and the best fight: Umemiya vs. Takiishi.
If I had a dollar for every anime where the second season of anime where there are fights made a lot of people abandon the series just because they didn't understand the message of the series in the first season and now consider the series weak because it focused more on the plot, I would have 2 dollars, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice XD
Seriously, it's funny that in the recommendations we have Tokyo Revengers, and this series has more in common with Vinland Saga. But it's good that it happened, similarly to Vinland Saga, this season served as a good sieve that will separate people from the fandom, and it showed that it was never anime for them in the first place.
When will people understand that just because an anime has fights doesn't mean it's about fights? Fights are a way for the author to tell the story, not that the story is a way for the fights to be shown
Yeah its crazy that i saw people say stuff like "man the fights in season 1 were wayyy better" or "this season is so boring comoared to the first". I agree that in terms of choreo the first season is a bit better then this one (even tho this season also had peak choreo like the twins fighting together). But the emotional stuff in this season made up for the slightly worse fights becasue thats my favorite part about this show. Wind Breaker really knows how to combine fights with developing the Characters and Story without needing supernatural stuff like Tokyo revengers. So i'm glad that all the "unga bunga i only want fighting" people drop the show
I really liked this season but it does feel a little like connective tissue. Where Season 1 keeps the scope pretty small and structured, this season really opens up the story and does a ton of world building and character development, but I'm not complaining. We've built up a big conflict and they left us on a cliffhanger now, can't wait for more.
I love the political undertones, that's always been my draw to this show, and this season has been very successful in that regard. I adore these little anarchists. We get lessons in mutual aid, forgiveness, diversity, class struggle, gender expression, leadership, community service, and friendship. I am here for shows like this that actively work against toxic masculinity, especially if it's done via punching.
8/10 for the season but honestly that might go up on a rewatch. My show of the season for sure.
my feelings haven't changed since S1. It's entertaining, lovable characters, good animation (especially the fight scenes) but at the ends they are just boy scouts, it feels off, behind the delinquent aesthetic, they are not rebels, it misses the whole point of what usually makes Furyo (and rebel youth culture in general) so thrilling and endearing
Not bad but lacks guts
Normally season 2 of any show is usually better then then first season cause characters are more fleshed out and arcs get better however this season definitely felt weaker then the first season. The animation is consistent throughout but the story and arcs this season didn’t really click with me or leave an impression like the first season did, still a solid 8/10 but a letdown from a very good first season
Lackluster ending, felt like absolutely nothing happened other then a needlessly prolonged lore dump trying to hype up two antagonists for next season without even letting us see them fight or doing anything to make me excited for next season.
The finale of the meeting on the roof, It plays some flash backs the music starts then Sakura says the most obvious generic thing ever and they light up and act like he's the second coming of Christ.
Season 2 overall was for me a step down from Season 1, focusing on characters I can't say I care about and pushing the MC to the side-line which would be fine if the stories/dialog wasn't so shallow.
I really loved how they brought Sakura's character arc full circle at the end of this episode with him reflecting on what he came to Furin for initially and how they explored the past of Furin and drew parallels to him and Endo! Sakura honestly is an awesome character, the writer has done a great job with him in particular. I'm really excited to see the next arc! Great season for a very good show! :D
I already knew I wasn't going to like this season as much as the first one, seeing as I keep up with the manga. It has nothing to do with fights, but more of a lack of interest in the supporting characters and arcs this season. Also, now that I think about it, I don't like Umeimiya(sp?). He is almost too goofy, and we(as well as the first years) are just supposed to believe he is hella strong based on one fight and cause everyone else says so. He IS a good leader in terms of words, but that is it for me. That is neither here nor there though, just personal preference. Excited for the next season though as I know it will be good.
Totally off-topic but, how the hell these kids make money in order to buy stuff like food and whatnot, not to mention, where the hell are the teachers of that school lol they just gather there to hang out and there are no actual classes, I want answers! But yeah a very nice season indeed, better than the first one and leaving lot of loose ends, I love this kind of season, definitely gonna watch the next one.
