Man, I hate it when the ball starts shining and you end up thrown into the Sengoku period. That's why I stopped bowling.
I only watched 1 trailer of this but I don't think it was supposed to be about anything else than bowling? :'D
It was a bit surprising to see the anime open with drama and someone leaving the club but it took an even stranger direction in the end lol
Also, yay for left-handed MC!
New trailer and key visual:

i liked it a lot! mai as a protagonist is such a joy, i love her
the animation was kinda just alright for everything but the bowling, they killed it with the bowling
the ost seems great too!
and i have absolutely no words for that ending What was that.
part of me kinda wishes it was just a normal bowling anime, but im curious for where theyll go with this one
Ok... What? That ending took me by complete surprise. I didn't expect at all for this sports CGDCT anime to be in the supernatural genre, much less that the supernatural power would transport them to ancient japan..., I did start to notice something strange when they showed that rock in the construction zone, but I thought no way it was going to have any significant impact, seems like I was completely wrong
I knew going in there would be some kind of twist because Lynzee from ANN mentioned it in their trailer watch party, but I wasn't expecting all of that?? I loved this episode, even before all the craziness happened, and I'm even more excited now.
I have some theories based on what we saw in the first episode:
1) Mai is alone at the beginning of the episode
2) Every time she gets a Turkey, she leaves a split. Just two pins.
3) Those four holes sure do look suspiciously grave like...
4) Mai asking "Where do all the pins go?"...
All those things put together really scare me and kind of scream "death flag." What is going to happen to these girls?? We might be in for something darker than expected, but I could be reading too much into things. Maybe some of the girls will get permanently trapped back in time? But that new trailer did look awful bloody...
I was on board because it looked cute, plus I only really ever like sports anime when it’s a less normal sport and has fun characters like Chihayafuru and Umamusume. We get some top notch drama here and with it the interesting characters that I wanted. The conflict between Mai and Rina as well as Mai and Mai herself is very compelling and I’m interested to see where all of this goes.
Then, surprise! It’s an isekai! I was not expecting that at all, and honestly, since I’m not a huge isekai person, I would have probably not watched this if I knew beforehand. So I guess it’s good that I never found out until after watching the episode. I’m still hooked, and am actually excited to see how everyone fares in the new world.
Started as a cute girls playing bowling but didn't expect that twist in the story. The girls really time travelled to Sengoku period (1467 to 1615) I think. Because Sengoku Period is known to be one of the most amount of war happened timeline ever. I am sucker for isekai story and I am really excited to see how bowling + time travelling work together in this show and how they bring it's potentional out. This anime also have CGDCT and really hoping it doesn't end up like Talentless Nana or School-Live. As for now I am really liking Mai as she reminds me of Sasaki Saku (Vtuber).

I totally laughed hard at the one scene, and the post-credits really surprised me!

The bowling on sports was super well-animated and felt like it was actually a key of the story.
Since this anime is an original project/story created by the studio and Pony Canyon (publisher), there's no source material to refer to. so it's fun just trying to think of what will happen next.
That bowling ball looked like an old from the Sengoku-era, so I don't think this is an isekai -- it seems more like a time-leap situation (though honestly, I'm not even sure what counts as isekai anymore).
I just hope it doesn't turn into another "genius power solves everything" kind of story, like defeating people with bowling or something. I think that's the point on the next episode to decide it's worth dropping or not.

I agree, I feel like the word "isekai" carries a lot of baggage from the tropes of that genre, but I didn't really get that isekai vibe from what we've seen so far. If they can keep up the good character drama with the twist of a historical setting, I really wouldn't mind that at all.
I was looking forward to a normal bowling anime ngl, it looks really pretty, good character designs and I'm a fan of the unique types of sport that get presented in the standard sport anime format but that twist sure came out of left field. No clue what this could possibly be going for. Potentially a fun show, or potentially ruined. I guess we'll have to see.
Oh shit.... is it a Isekai?.. i was enjoying a lot but not a big fan of isekais. The protagonist was seems really good btw
what?!?!
i was wondering why they focused so much on the bookstore being demolished? just a strange symbolism? then they talked about the second roll mattering and decided it stopped seeming so weird, but that scrap? the thunderstorm? ah, the thunderstorm makes sense, they are going to get holed up in the bowling alley for the night. whats that scrap though?... and then the fucking bowling ball begins glowing and it pulls all of them into the bowling alley? what is going on?!?!
i was thinking it was just gonna be a chill high school bowling slice of life… and outta nowhere: TIME TRAVEL?? That twist at the end was so wild I had to pause and just stare at the screen like, “did that really just happen?” Not gonna lie, I did not see that coming, but now I’m super curious to see where the story goes.
WOW! This was such an amazingly-executed twist!
Turkey! has been in the works for at least a couple of years. I remember seeing promotional material for it a couple of years ago, and all I remember from it was descriptions of the characters and their ball-throwing styles. It looked like it was going to be nothing more than Cute Girls Doing Bowling, and there was no obvious hint of time travel.
I'm curious if the time travel plot had been planned from the start, or if they decided to retool it later on because they didn't think they could make it work as a regular CGDCT slice of life.
I'm going to continue watching this because I'm interested to see where it goes from here, but no matter how good it is, I'll still feel a little bit disappointed that they didn't do a regular slice of life about bowling.
I am about to crash out so hard.
OUT OF EVERY SPORTS YOU WANT TO DO THIS WITH THE ONE SPORTS I HAVE BEEN WANTING AN ANIME FOR SO LONG????????????????????????????
THEY BETTER BE BOWLING WITH SAKAMOTO RYOMA OR SOME SHIT
The trailer on the show page (which spoils the shit out of the twist) shows them using a makeshift bowling arena with the sengoku characters. I don't expect it to be the main focus of the show, but it'll figure in at least in part.
From the looks of it, this seems to be more like a character based drama or coming of age story.
