She is carrying the show for me. Kafka might be stronger but she is definitely the most badass character in the entire anime.
Bro better picks up his slack
Is Kaiju 9 really dead or will they find a way to bring him back yet again?
Overall nice climax.Spoiler about Kaiju nr. 9 ahead that isn't really a spoiler since most can probably predict that:
The one Kafka killed was just a clone if I remember correctly, similar to the one Narumi killed, Kaiju nr. 9 is a fungus type Kaiju if I'm not mistaken so he can multiply and take over other Kaiju like that one zombie mushroom that infects insects such as ants to spread (You could say, him using ant type Kaiju is a reference to that)
EP 3: I really liked this ep, but I don't like that they ruined the pacing of ep 2 for this one
Most of Gen's fight could've been in ep 2, but they instead overshadowed it with Kafka's. Not that I particularly like Gen, but it would've been way smoother. Ep 2 should've ended with a tease for Kafka's fight or something.
I know I'm in the vast majority, but I really do enjoy Kaiju No. 8 more than Attack on Titan.
It often gets compared to AoT as a lesser, more straightforward shounen, but I really just appreciate the vibes of this show. It's not as dour, the art style isn't as harsh, the electronic & intense soundtrack during battles fits perfectly, and the MC being a struggling 30+ year old man instead of a screaming angry kid is a nice change of pace.
Kaiju No. 8 doesn't have as complex, isn't trying to be philosophical, uts more emphasis on the flashy battles, but that makes it feel like a callback to traditional battle shounen but with a modern coat of paint. I'm not saying it's "better," only that I'm enjoying it more than later AoT. It's just fun.
Comparing AoT to Kaiju No.8 is like apple to oranges. Promised Neverland is a closer comparison, but even then it's not a good comparison. AoT is basically alternate WWII history with Titans
Sure, but you can point to differences in every anime comparison. I'm just saying that people compare Kaiju No. 8 & Attack on Titan a LOT, but they usually do so in a condescending, dismissive way. That's what I'm pushing back against. For me personally, I find the show's energy, pacing & more upbeat attitude more entertaining.
AOT stopped being one of my favorites just because the show completely changed, like, after they get past the wall, the show kind of stopped being interesting. like the mystery was more interesting than the answer i gusss.
to what I've read in the manga for kaiju no 8, its pretty freaking good. though, i haven't cought up in a long time.
Kefka's fights are starting to remind me of Spider-man at times, when he's moving around, jumping, maneuvering in the air, etc. As well as the sequence during the ending. I guess if you're going to have a character moving like that, there are few better references than Spidey. This is not a complaint, I actually like it very much. The action in the whole episode is very enjoyable.
this is a fun series. im glad the main character isnt just generic black haired 16 year old no 45131. this story actually has more themes other than just coping dragon ball and just being "Work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty!". like, dragon ball already did that, cant you write something else??
