Alicia is so awesome — god damn!

And it’s always satisfying to see a villain who talks too much get taken down quickly. Finally someone put that insect guy in his place.

And I feel so dumb for not realizing that Drel was being assisted by another kind of black creature. He’s shaping up to be such a powerful villain.

Despite being a dark fantasy, having themes like becoming a true hero and the importance of protecting the innocent keeps it from feeling grimdark or edgy

The fighting scenes in this episode gave me a lot of Solo Leveling vibes, so that in itself was fun. I don’t like bugs, or rather I don’t like it when they swarm or there’s a lot of them, so seeing the tiny bugs cover Alicia during various parts of this episode really bothered me. I don’t have issues with the big bugs, it’s the small ones that bother me. Like in Twilight Princess in the Temple of Time. No issue fighting the giant spiders, but when it came to the smaller spiders with the opaque white abdomens swarming at me, that scared me more than an actual horror game has ever scared me.

I really loved the interaction between Alicia and the elder village member, and am glad that he was not killed. I’m also glad bug boy wasn’t killed either because if he’s the “strongest and most dangerous” Wizard in Drel’s army, it really discounts how powerful Drel and his army actually is if the strongest was killed so easily. Also Clevatess chastising Alicia for struggling against the wizard but only because he has taken her regalia away really speaks volumes about his character.

Not much Tsundere Magneto in this episode. I wonder if she’ll fight Alicia in the nest episode.

  Thats true - if bug boy is suppose to be the strongest wizard in Drel's arm i dont see how Alicia will fight Magneto girl next. Maybe shell lost the blade again for some reason.
  
  Was cool to see the vilager leader reconize she as a worth Hero and the kid as the next in line for the kingdom. I hope this slot doesnt delay so much in the history.

  Very true, I feel the only way Alicia fights Tsundere Magneto is if she’s a bit depowered after this episode.
  
  I get the vibe also since there is a dark beast backing Drel, bug boy and probably the other wizards are going to get a power boost later that will probably also be harming the wizards that get the boost in some way.

  It may go more of a rock paper scissors way, I mean the logic of Alicia's overwhelming victory here was that she sort of domino effected the bugs. Against a bunch of nails or swords she wouldn't be able to do that since there would not be the "they're made of water, lel" part.

Yep. This episode is the opposite of the previous episode. This is amazing. As I said before previous episode got dragged a lot and this episode redeemed it. Not because of the fight but the pacing is good and that insect guy got beaten up for that 1 minute annoying laugh. (Many called be Shounen lover but I am saying it again, I never watched Shounen and I never expecting high level fights too as I watched a lot of slow pacing anime)

A bit of a deus ex machina ending, but still a very cool episode.

Also the gravity girl seemed to get away pretty scott free for now, coin toss time as to whether she'll A. be forgotten, or B. join the gang for reasons.

Hero's boobies are really nice.

I really appreciated colors of today's episode - dark, yet colorful. Night episodes are when the show really shines. Unfortunately, the stakes are on the all-time low, now that Clevatess' spirit simply teleported outta the bubble.

  This reminded me and I decided to check a fan art site I know and it didn’t take long to find lewd images. Looks like some artists either didn’t know she has a scar on her one boob or just didn’t care to draw it. I went back to the first episode and while you don’t see a scar as she lifts her clothes, there is a rip with her clothes where that scar would be. I didn’t realize until that shot that her scars also extent to her chest.

Ngl this episode was kinda goofy to me.

It started off good with the dad talking down the younger ones and having some amount of sense, but between the motivations of Maynard (oh no I'm a big baby because the heroes weren't here for me specifically - boohoo) and Clen taking ALL DAY to give Alicia the sword when he knows she needs it to protect the kid is just too much for me. Maybe they'll explain in the next episode that he couldn't easily later? They have done something like this before in another episode.

I can do suspension of disbelief, but it's like they wanted to draw this out for no other reason than to shoehorn in a low point for her so it felt better when she had a high note right after.

Update: you know now that I think about it, I wonder if the crystal had something to do with it and was feeding on his negative emotions to push him over the edge as well as give him powers. That's not too far fetched.

As usual this anime is still consistently good, what's interesting is that this might be the first episode where the ending isn't a cliffhanger, so it's relaxing to wait for the next one

  Are the heroes in this show just nothing without their weapons? I'm asking because Alicia is suppose to be a hero yeah she's camping out and hiding from regular civilians? I understand hiding from the wizard and other people like that. But villagers bro? I feel she's been portrayed very weakly throughout the show so far.

  Alicia fought like crazy even wo her Regalia, and she hid from the villagers bc she doesnt want to hurt them, also even with all of her skill, wo the Regalia she cant handle when a shitload of enemies attack her at once, we saw her last arc beating the shit out of the Ravens but there too she eventually got fatigued after fighting too many ppl. her skill is immense and she is semi immortal but her body is still mostly human.

  Heroes are normal people, they've got special weapons and are well trained for battle but they're still just people, they themselves don't have special hero powers like they typically do in most generic fantasy anime - it's just a title bestowed to them by the king to go and fight dark beasts.

I just caught up on this show. So glad I didn’t skip it! I really enjoy the art style and world building here. We also have characters with some real depth.

Finally did anyone notice Ellie Goulding sings in the ED. Took a while for me to notice her credited.
