[Spoilers] Mizu Zokusei no Mahou Tsukai - Episode 7 Discussion

I was thinking throughout this episode when the devils appeared "damn this is getting a bit interesting but where is our MC Ryou? Right, reading books..." but yeah of course he pops up out of nowhere when all hope is lost and ends the episode in a way that should be illegal.

Gotta say though, I find it annoying that when Ryou finally gets to show off, the girl Lyn who's been a pain about not believing what Ryou can do is now UNCONCIOUS, why? She didn't have to be, I hope she wakes up in time so she can see with her own eyes

I was just about to come here and scream my head off about that girl being unconscious right as Ryou is about to actually do something. 7 episodes and the MC is FINALLY about to become the actual MC, for the first time.

  It feels like the author made Ryou a bit too strong. If he was here from the start it would've been too easy I guess but I wouldn't really mind it, I'd rather just have the MC be strong and take care of everything rather than not being there.

  Idk about that, it's nice to actually give the other characters room and strength, like dealing with the Great Tidal Bore without him while he got his own sidequest to fight the akuma. Makes them not totally incompetent through action instead of just words.

  The show has so much potential but they keep messing it up with power point slides and constant still pictures with a moving mouth. It feels like I'm reading a manga with a voice over.
  
  Side character Ryo got a little bit more screen time now finally, was in the library then suddenly spawned to floor 40 being all cocky. Next ep will probably be spent on the girl coming to warn him and his journey to floor 40. Pacing is garbage, and the chosen scenes do not fit the narrative at all..

  This is what happens when 1,947 people add slop like The Beginning After the End to their 'Favorites'. The other studio heads look at each other and say "Are you seeing this? Look at what ACAT got away with. People are even defending it. Now WE can do it to! Let's pocket half the budget and fire up PowerPoint."

  There's a problem with the production of that thing. What a mess... even the music didn't fit the scenes.
  There's probably a lack budget and time, but the director doesn't seem to know what he's doing.

Overall a pretty noticable drop in animation quality, lots of the combat was just the same scene repeated and anything close quaters was like a slideshow, Until the end that is.

Abel and the Demon Prince fight was cool, and Ryo's entrance was badass, can't wait for next week to see how he got from the library, to the dungeon and then dug down 40 layers so quickly

  Was about to comment the same, it feels like they used a majority of the animation budget to make that beautiful opening and now they have to compromise. Which, if that is the case, is just such a bummer

  At least its better than the manga, but the manga is quite possibly the worst i've ever seen so that isn't saying much.

  I've just looked up the manga and skimmed over the first two chapters and damn, I wouldn't even say the art itself is complete garbage (not good or mediocre either though), but the overusage of that grid pattern is almost painful to look at

  Still scenes were great but yeah I agree sometimes animation just doesn't look right, Opening is awesome thought I wish it gets a credit less version!

  At animeschedule it says it will air next week and it's usually up to date with delays as soon as they're official. That would be diabolical tho making us waiting two weeks after ending it like that

How dumb can this guy be? he went into a dungeon he got teleported to a random location and instead of thinking how to return back to his home alive he thinks how to get to be the headmaster or whatever title he wants.
After watching the whole episode, i just hope he is ashes by now.
Guess they did save money on the goblin king fight for the fight next episode but Ryo said it's weak so i guess they won't spend the money saved on that animation so it will be probably on the same akuma he fought few episodes ago.

They were blatantly stalling just to force a cliffhanger. We 100% could have had the Ryou fight this episode, but instead it was dragged out for no reason. Unless they’re planning something big with it (which, let’s be real, probably not) that cliffhanger was totally unnecessary.

  If the next episode wont be a cool fight, im dropping this, dragging episodes is a kaka move and waste of time. I finally got hyped on this boring show after the beginning was great and then went down hill and now finally there is something cool happening.

But actually I really like this kind of concept the story isn’t always about the MC handling everything, he only shows up at critical moments instead of dealing with every little thing and rio’s appearance in this episode was really great

Somehow, the whole thing reminds me of Frieren. The series is nice and calm, with the occasional highlight. I love it. I didn't think he would just make a hole in the ceiling, but it's still a cool performance.

I wondered how they would have connected the story, since they wasted the scene that was supposed to happen in this episode in the last one.

I was curious about what was changed and why they did it. TURNS OUT IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING. It's literally the same as the manga, and their meeting doesn't make any sense. There is literally a scene that goes "if only she were here. Oh! LOOK, she is". BRUH fr? Why change things up if it all results in nothing?

As always, it feels like 2 different teams are doing the episodes, the crappy guys that don't know what they are doing and that are there just to fill the gaps, and the actually dedicated few, which follow the manga religiously and sometimes even add onto it.

Everything else was fine; the animation was subpar but sufficient for the episode, the story was solid, and the fight was actually interesting this time.
I just don't get it. Why make the story worse on purpose if you end up changing nothing? It wasn't shorter, it wasn't more entertaining, it didn't make more sense...

That cliffhanger ending really pissed me off; seriously unearned.
