Somehow it took me 2 seasons and 3 movies to realize this anime's plot is extremely similar to Monogatari, I'm dumb.
Definitely similar confusing at times.
Well, I only started watching Monogatari because of the series. Or more accurately, people like you who compared this series to Monogatari. And I also see the similarities between the two series , even though I’m only a few episodes into the latter.
Love both. Even the romantic interests of the two shows are pretty similar
I have a couple ideas as to what Himeji's thing is, can't wait to be wrong though. Either way she seems like she's going to be a problem possibly in the same way Koga originally was.
Fully agree with Mai's cute assortment of outfits and same for Futaba who looks really good after she went through her puberty syndrome and hit college.
The way things are going it feels like the end of this season might be kind of crazy, looking forward to it.
I absolutely loved that “Ya-hooo!” that Sakuta made in response to Mai saying that she would spend both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with him! And I totally understand of course. I mean, who wouldn’t be thrilled to death to have a girlfriend such as Mai Sakurajima spend all of Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day with them?
I was not expecting such a chill episode based on how the last episode ended ∘ ∘ ∘ ( °ヮ° )
It definitely seems like it's someone else with Puberty Syndrome that they got from Touko that would end up hurting Mai. Himeji seems like the most likely culprit since this is her arc. Sakuta never misses the opportunity to say she wears a miniskirt xD
So the #dreaming phenomenon wasn't tied to Akagi after all. It's finally Sakuta's turn to have these dreams and they involve Himeji.
We seriously need an episode of downtime where Mai and Sakuta can just go on a date and have fun together... I wish the LN did like half volumes that just covers something that happens in character's daily lives so we could get to know them more.
At least we get a glimpse of Mai wearing a ring. She looks so happy!! Sakuta should just hurry up and propose to her already.
I'm not sure how I feel about Touko still. We get some glimpses into her personality in this episode and hints on her puberty syndrome as well. It's very similar to Mai where she's invisible but she's also able to hand out puberty syndromes to the people who listen to her songs. I suppose she sees these puberty syndromes as gifts that benefit the people receiving them.
They're having the same dream due to the quantum entanglement that happened when they bumped heads in the elevator is my guess.
I don't have any theories so far of what her puberty syndrome could potentially be. The only hints we have is that it's because of heartbreak. Is it making guys around her fall in love with her? Koga mentioned how popular she is with the boys. There's also that instance where a teacher at the cram school got fired for trying to make a move on her. There's too much speculation so I'll just wait for the next episode for more hints.
Wait, so the teacher did in fact try to make a move on her? And he got fired for it? I didn’t read the light novels up to that point, so I’m a little surprised to read that. And it’s interesting you should point that out, because now that Sakuta’s a teacher at that cram school. And I was thinking during that whole scene with him and Himeji, considering what Sakuta said about the fact that he “wouldn’t lay a finger on her“ in regards to the original teacher.
Well, now that the shoe is on the other foot, will Sakuta keep his word? Or will he trying to make a move himself? Or as a third option, will Himeji try to bait him into making a move or something? I think the third option is quite likely, especially considering all the bad vibes that everyone in this thread is seemingly getting from her. And yeah, I understand, believe me, I understand.
I never read the light novel either but it was shown in episode 4 that he tried something with Himeji and he got the repercussions for it.
Then she flashes Sakuta this smile literally right after that whole thing took place...
I think Sakuta will try and fix Himeji's puberty syndrome but she will twist his actions and frame it is as blackmail to stop him. There was a scene in episode 5 where she dropped her napkin while they were both in the elevator. This was where they bumped heads and it looked like there was some quantum entanglement involved. However, there was also one suspicious camera angle that was shown where it looked like they were kissing.
This is all pure speculation at this point but her actions and that smile just gives me a bad feeling.
Yep, as they should be giving you a bad feeling. Because, with that smile at the end of that one scene, it suggests that Himeji was setting up that teacher, and if that's the case, that's disgusting! And your prediction that she will try to twist the help that Sakuta will give her into blackmail makes me really worried about Sakuta myself. Maybe she'll try to set him up too!

I have just noticed that who sang the ending changes based on who Sakuta is helping currently. Not sure if episode 7 was also sang by Akagi. Also Himeji's hair is more red in the dream? or maybe it looks like that because of the oversaturated look it has.
I think we’re in for another wild ride similar to Dreaming Girl and His First Love. I’m getting some vibes that there’s a tragedy coming up soon. Maybe because Shoko didn’t want her puberty syndrome cured either and now we have two people who feel the same that are in direct orbit of Sakuta. I think Toko Kirishima has been the source of all puberty syndromes since the beginning. I’m pretty sure she is even responsible for Kaede or she gained the powers to give puberty syndrome to people because of Kaede. It also manifested for some reason because of Mai. This is why the major cases seem to happen around Sakuta and Mai exclusively.
I feel Mito and Toko Kirishima are the same person or related in some way also. Mito is too much the female version of Sakuta to not be more directly related to all of this.
I have to remind myself that Mai will ultimately be okay and also will the relationship between her and Sakuta. They are the OTP of this series and can’t be permanently broken apart. I get scared though!
As for Himeji. She is flirting too much with Sakuta so I don’t like her right now. I do hope that whatever is happening gets resolved before Christmas Eve and Mai and Sakuta get to have those two days together as planned. However that’s not how this series is, so I am guessing it doesn’t happen.
Also, Kaede becoming more and more sociable and extroverted is such a wonderful thing to see as well.
