I've been pretty excited for this show since I finished Gintama last year. It's interesting that the class doesn't seem full yet and I'm sure they'll introduce the other characters from the opening in the next few episodes. It's not as funny as Gintama yet (in my opinion) but I'm sure it will get there. I'm also interested to see if anyone will pick this up without having had watched Gintama lol.
This is going to be rough and hard to watch... The start and the studying English part was funny but I can't stand how ugly and outdated the anime looks and feels, is even worse and more tedious than the original runs and season, I don't think the setting of a school or some rooms in that aspect help it at all, the colors and everything is dull, the outlines on the characters are weak, the lighting is mostly horrible and even the close up look not that detailed or funny.
A lot of off models for a series that has little to no movement...
I'm happy to watch the Yorozuya and all the cast back but oh boy I don't think this look appealing at all, and unless you're a fan of Gintama, is going to be hard to get in or join on the fun without understanding some internal references, jokes and dynamics...
Will be watching it, but while I didn't expect much, this was mostly a disappointment, no need to be this rough looking, little to nothing pop up or is attractive, the early 2000 looks is jarring honestly.
Hoping they move out and show scenes outside of the school or take some cool liberties like the start of this first episode.
'outdated'?...Ofc they are. They made fun of themselves still being 4:3 well after everything went to 16:9.
I also feel Gintama is more about the story, characters, absurdity, morals, making fun of Sorachi.
Having "weak outlines" is far from what I think they care about.
Gintama is Gintama. Everything else is everything else. It has no equal.
I doubt they're here to make new fans of this particular side-story. I'd say it's more for all of us that have loved it for decades and lettuce enjoy what we love the most.. The insanity that is, Gintama.
Yup, that's Gintama, though I forget, who's the recorder girl?
Mone, one of the two sisters who gave Sadaharu to the yorozuyas. In the episode where they had to "exorcize" Sadaharu to calm him down, she performed some music with a recorder which then got stuck in her mouth for a while. So it looks like in the spin off she just became a girl who constantly play the recorder lol
