Typical.
Bro really played her.
He tried his best but the little boy was a bit annoying lol
Really wondering what they are building up with the whole monster organisation thing. The new episode of OPM S3, Episode 2 was decent and seems like we might get good fight scenes which will be actually animatedl(2D-Hope So). Still the characters doesn't feel alive and also the walk of Garou was not good, If they cann't animate that well then why choosing the harder perspective they can go with the easy one. But why there is fan service(I know because of Director but there is no need). Overall this isn't what i expected from OPM S3.
Episode Rating :- 78/100
Is it better than Ep. 1 - Yes, You can say.
I had already read Manga and Webmanga/Webcomic
Better than first episode, due to the final animated fight scene. There is animation, it is not a slideshow. The biggest problem of the anime is the conversation scenes, you start to see the pattern of sliding frames everytime.
Next episode will have the fighting scene in the trailer, so maybe it will be better? Just keep your expectations low and you will actually enjoy this season.
For as much as people want to say they watched OPM solely for fights that cannot be tue for everyone. Even if by some sort of miracle ethe fights retained an okay level of animation, it does not excuse the whole episode feeling so...disjointed, messy, having zero transitions and overall pacing being totally off. The jank throughout can probably be seen by general audience, and that's saying a lot. You can't hide your lack of animation by artificially extending scenes with slow pans or loops. It just looks so bad man. The only reason the perception of this episode in particular would be slighlty better is the fact that we had that Aoki (?) animated scene at the end, if not, then it would have probably been worse than last week.
ong ppl see 1 action scene and they think its better. like bro isnt the point of this anime the fact that saitama can beat anyone with 1 punch? so i wouldnt expect amazing fight scenes. the side characters are more interesting and its not like im somehow gonna turn off my brain every time there isnt a fight scene. like im still watching the fucking screen bro theres no excuse for how horrible everything looks. just look in the comments here where a guy posted a snippet of garo sliding down the hill ... ong bro its over
they need to focus on saitama it is the only reason i watch, like imagine mob psycho without mob it would be pointless
You do realize 90% of screentime would just be Saitama walking from point A to point B one punching generic monsters if it only focused on him. What made OPM so popular wasn't just that weird baldy that's insanely overpowered, but also the charming side cast (i.e. Tatsumaki, Genos, King, Fubuki, etc.) and that's not taking into account the fact this arc literally revolves around Garo's evelution
A good majority of Season 1's Deep Sea King arc was heavily reliant on other characters with Saitama only being used to save everyone at the end. Season 2's Tournament arc was similar in the same way, where Saitama saves Suiryu
Why would they focus on a background gag character like Saitama though? The series isn't about him. He just comes in for the punch line. It's the ensemble cast of S rank heroes and rank 1 A, B, and C class heroes that are the main characters.
I'm all for having the ensemble cast create a great show and I'm going to stick with it. But Saitama isn't a background gag character, he literally is the one the show revolves around and is named after. The world's interaction with him is what made the show great early so I'm hoping they keep him a part of his own show.
This might be considered a spoiler so I'll tag it just to be safe.
The naming sense is a lot like Dragon Ball. They're not shown very much outside of big, flashy scenes, but the impact they have on the main characters is why the series is named after them. One Punch Man, the anime and the manga, both featured a lot of Saitama around the start. As they added new arcs, Saitama showed up less and less, but the people he's impacted and inspired show up more and more.
This next bit is an actual spoiler for the current arc that's being adapted as it relates to what I said in the not entirely spoilery spoiler part above.
Saitama probably isn't going to show up at all for the rest of the season unless we're getting at least 14 episodes or unless they skip a bunch of scenes. The Human Monster Saga (the one that started in s02e01 and will probably continue until season 4, if we get one) is one that introduces and builds up Garou. It also builds more on the ensemble cast that was introduced during the Hero Association Saga.
So One Punch Man is the story of how the Saitama Group New Blizzard Bunch rose to greatness.

'charming side cast (i.e. Tatsumaki, Genos, King, Fubuki, etc.)'
Every single character listed is a useless asshole. No one watches OPM for them - they watch it to see Saitama punch something. There's nothing better than watching a pretentious villain monologuing for five minutes about how powerful and invincible they are, only to have Saitama punch a hole straight through them. It's the ONLY redeeming quality this story has.
They're only useless when compared to someone that can end a fight in one punch. It's like saying every hero in "My Hero Academia," is useless because One for All can just fix the problem.
I agree with you though that 90% of people watch anime because they want to see flashy fights. I have a super normie friend who has a great intellect and he refuses to watch anime that makes him think, laugh, or cry. Only concerned with being entertained on the most instinctual level.
this episode was more entertaining and the plot's moving forwards nicely, even if the static animation is still there for most of the talking scenes and it's a little awkward. Next episode is gonna be the real test for me though since we're about to get a fight next episode. I do have a bit more hope tho, cuz the animation at the end with Garou was REALLY SMOOTH!
I rest my case.
For the moment I completely agree with this review. Interesting take in this other review as well. But no matter whose fault it is, this poor animation won't increase J.C.Staff's popularity – and justly so.
I'll wait for episode 3 just to make sure, but what I'll probably do is just re-read the manga and only watch the fight scenes in the anime.
I don't understand what they are doing... They made the most amazing 1st season and it's like they gave the rest to a small budget companie and went "go make money with this, people will watch it even if it sucks" and now we're stuck watching this low quality anime even tho it could be the best show right now...
It's hard to get Madhouse on a project. Their skills are sought after a lot and that keeps their schedule tight. I had also heard OPM season 1 was a god tier project with team members we weren't likely to ever see in one place ever again.
JC Staff is a giant studio. What that means is they have more scheduling opportunities, but it also means their average animator is probably worse than your average animator at a smaller more focused studio. Instead of waiting for a scheduling opportunity at Madhouse Shueisha decided getting the 2nd season out faster was the better call for business. So now we're stuck with JC Staff.
I get that everyone has their own opinion and take on this Season. Some say it's great, some say it's bad, some say it's fine, BUT hear me out.
HOW would you feel if someone you love beats you up and then kisses you randomly and goes back to beating you and then acts like nothing is wrong?
Let me guess, some will say it's great, some will say it's bad, some will say it's fine. No?
Because that's how I feel this S3 is doing to us, 80% slide-show animation (the Beating), 20% normal animation (the Kissing)
That's why some people think "the last scene wasn't that bad, the fight was good". Yeah, well THAT'S HOW THE WHOLE EPISODE WAS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE IN THE FIRST PLACE. A small, good scene doesn't change the fact that the animation is just BAD.
Just read the Manga for god sake, it's 100 times better.
If you read the manga then you would know, that their priority is not to animate the conversation scenes, because to be honest, they are not that important. We'll see how the fighting scenes will go. So far we only got 2 Episodes in and people be already comparing it to Blue Lock, all those people are not different from Tourists in my opinion
If the Animation in the fighting scenes is bad, the anime is going to suck as an adaptation, but if it does not everyone who has been hating on it so far is definitly a Tourist in my eyes
I get what u are saying, but no matter how much u try to justify, it's just really sad, and disappointing to see what this anime has become compared to S1. It's like watching something you love die in front of you when it had so much potential to be great, at least that is how I feel when it comes to One Punch Man
I don't know i feel like people have too high standards, in this day and age. It does not bother me to see some bad animation, for scenes that don't really matter. That is also the reason i don't get why people like Violet Evergarden just for the visuals. The Story was so bland and not really good explained and people praise it so much, saying it is so good and one of their most liked anime.
p.s
Also i am just glad we got a s3 and hope it does not end like Seven Deadly Sins with the real fighting scenes
Being dejected at the high standards of people nowadays then going on to say the story in "Violet Evergarden," was bland and confusing (which it wasn't,) is what I like to call hypocrisy.
If you look at any given season and don't see "Violet Evergarden" as better than 85% of it than you're just messed up in the brain. Most anime is bargain bin, asset flipping, trope filled garbage. "Violet Evergarden," is at worse an 8/10.
I understand you feel the need to defend this show, but it doesn't need it. You see how large the forum posts get for this show? The forum activity for OPM is similar in level to the most popular shows. Imagine what that means for the number of average tv viewers that don't engage.
Honestly, even if JJK had larger average forum activity, I bet its overall viewership pales in comparison to OPM. OPM is just so much more accessible to a general audience.
Why should we settle for good enough (barely at that,) when we know from season 1 that the show can be genuinely lifted up and be better than the manga? This is coming from an active watcher too. It's like Pokemon. You are making so much money from us why aren't you trying to improve the product with all that wealth?
First of all Violet Evergarden was bad in my opinion. You want to tell me she goes through all that just for a guy to decline her, after he dodged war gave her a ring before that, with the explanation he is not that guy. Definitly PEAK story writing ig. Aswell as her as character sometimes beeing no emotion and suddenly having it inbetween. (<- just going off how i remember it and why i did not like it, i watch everything fully to judge it.)
second, i don't expect much, because the first season was literally an assembly of one of the best animators there is and now J.C Staff does not have them working on it rn. And as of the information from now, i don't think we have any information on the budget.
The animation direction is mediocre and compounds the paltry animation budget.
Seems like J.C. Staff is too busy animating "My Gift Lvl 999" to bother with give One Punch Man S3 some proper justice. Can they not produce 3 animes in one season if they can't handle it. I mean, "Vivy" was produced by Wit Studio's B team.
episode 2 was definitely an improvement. still pretty basic, but i can see some glimmers here and there. still mostly just setup and preperation for the main movements of the arc. but still a little more attention to some characters to underline their serious nature / lead into the comedic beat.
the animation for the short start of the fight was well placed and gives me hope for the season, showing that they can and will spend their budget where it counts.
definitely a step in the right direction, but only time will tell with this season, as there is a lot of big moments and movement of the plot requiring some great animation work to pull off. it's obvious that they have a limited budget, but if what we are seing is just economy, to reserve the time and money for the later (actually important parts), that will be good.
but again, got to wait and see. no need to go off half-cocked like alec baldwin or something.
I can't help thinking that J.C. Staff has been inspired by Clutch Cargo in making the animations for season 3.
I saw a lot of videos and memes about how the animation sucks but tbh the animation was great especially the ending visuals are good though Guro just floating (not sliding like in the manga) and ignoring the laws of physics is umm... yeah it would be great if the animation could follow gravity & physics law in some area though not gonna lie that was funny or my standards just dropped after watching Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho hahaha (ʘᴗʘ✿).... anyways I hope people stop hating on the animators that much they are doing great though it needs some polishing plus they are human too and it's not like they aren't doing their best either
