When Yanaaku summons hybrid creatures of humans and monsters, Light and his companions explode in fury. Learning that Kaito is a “submaster,” Light makes the bold decision to take him down into the Abyss.
Nice, a revenge story that does what it suppose to do - Revenge. Some supposedly revenge series starts with the same premise but then they will have a change of heart halfway and back out instead. This is good, hope he gets all of the Concord members
Definitely one of the best anime around. Especially considering the norm around revenge anime is to forgive in 2 seconds and go "I know you just tried to end everyone I ever cared about but we is best friends now". Truly surprising to see them make this masterpiece. They took way too long with these 2 elves though. If bro wants revenge on all of them at this pace this show will need approximately 52 episodes lol.

Well, it’s already clear that this is a very half-assed revenge story. The fights are incredibly boring — it’s just the villain constantly praising himself and expressing his disdain for hyumans, then furiously attacking because the MC for some reason allows it. But then the MC shows his true power, the villain is shocked (“how is this possible?!”), and everything ends with pleas for mercy. I guess every next villain will be the same, with minor variations.
Honestly, you might as well watch Redo of Healer — it’s much better as a revenge story.
Half-assed is charitable to something that just forced in the flimsiest, barely-functional connecting thread beyond Light ostensibly still having a "heart" to him and yada (for all that reflection mattered since he was a grinning fool at the end) for this to not feel like an entire mini arc of wheel spinning. I had some nice laughs though, so hey.
Also Redo is better, I'd say, if only by technicality; all sorts of adult material exist that are so clearly contrived toward specific audiences and niches (it practically comes with the territory for the more fantastical stuff), but in terms of storytelling fundamentals it's still a headscratcher trying to make it in the Cirque de Soleil for all that much of its actual story beats hold water.
