Episode 38 & 39: Simply amazing! I am really satisfied with this ending. David Productions continues its great streak with the adaptations of the JoJo series.
That GER sequence in the opening was dope. So both episodes have in media res storytelling and I liked it went with that choice to close this series. GER's ability is insanely busted, like for real - mind can't get over how broken it is - this is after seeing completely busted stands throughout like King Crimson for example.
So Diavolo had the worst ending ever lol suffering for all eternity? That is some Izanami shit right there. And then back to the beginning of the show that shows another stand user (before the story starts with Giorno). The rocks were tripping me out as much as they were with Mista - on the way to investigate this new stand user.
The thematic elements in this ending just made the finale more amazing. Fate is a prominent theme in the world of JoJo - the fact that all stand users are intertwined by fate, that they are drawn to each other - then the whole Joestars lineage, etc. Scolippi stand, "Rolling Stones" showed that Abbacchio, and Narancia weren't fated to die from the start, but Bruno. Mista fought so hard to undo this fate by smashing the rock (Scolippi's stand shows those who are fated to die). After trying his best, he eventually crushed the rock, only for it to change into Bruno, Abbacchio, and Narancia. If he didn't do it then maybe those two would still be alive but then Bruno would definitely die and Giorno's and Bruno's dream may have never been realized. They all fought till the very end, against their fate, they didn't let fate define them. The part about them being Sleeping Slaves was fantastic. Now the opening scene to the second OP makes sense, the ending scene was beautiful. Giorno became a Gang-Star and his the Boss of the mafia organization - and Mista, Trish, and Polanareff with him. Great finale!
What did you think of the episode and this series as a whole?
Criticism from me is that the Rolling Stones story had barely anything to do with the story but other than that it was great
I think it has, they just show that one must accept what was destined to him/her or you can't change a fate once it's destined though the flashback kinda idk, kills the hype between the last episodes(?).
It made it clear that Passione was fated to lose from the get-go, that GER was not a part of fate, and they had to fight to get there.
Bruno should have died when Diavolo first hit him and cleaved through him, fate was literally on Diavolo's side.
By fighting Rolling Stones (fate) they created the opportunity to even try and win against Diavolo.
it's the exact opposite of "they just show that one must accept what was destined to him/her or you can't change a fate once it's destined though the flashback kinda"
but this doesn't changed the fact that all three faces that we see in the Rolling stones actually died. so in a way, I'm still right that fate is already written. They just fight the fate (Rolling Stones) that's why they win with Diavolo.
Well, fate is kind of tricky, Diavolo is basically cutting out anything bad that's fated to happen to him, he's taking an incredibly easy solution to his problem, while the gang works hard and sacrifices to change their own fates.
Like Jotaro being fated to die in part 3, and Doppio's head injury, you can sort of trick fate into reaching what it wants to reach but not having the effect it should have, especially when you're aware of fate.
Part 6 and 7 actually go into fate a bit more, which is all really interesting.
