Lmao poor Stark always has the worst luck, but Fern wasn't even really mad. She is used to it by now.
Somebody help me I can't stop smiling.
It feels so good to have the interactions between Stark, Fern and Frieren back. And it even looks like we got some of the characters from last season now as regulars? This episode was the perfect way to start off the season.
The wait was worth it :) MADHOUSE is cooking. I am kneeling like Himmel the Hero in front of Frieren.First comment in a discussion ever but...it starts off perfectly where it left off in S1, Evan Calls music sets the tone to continue the story so well, the small character design changes dont feel out of place either. I am amazed about the quality control in that first episode altough I have not read the Manga, the pacing feels very similiar to S1 in terms of not putting too much into one episode and rather be focusing on the whole season. Can't wait for it to continue and see if it keeps up with S1.
Also OP and ED Themes are perfect...Milet as usual kills it same goes for Mrs. Green Apple
For some people, waiting two years definitely brings a sense of relief. I regret having put off watching the first season of Frieren for so long. I watched season one a few days ago before starting season two, but I did it on purpose so I could roll straight into it. And that first episode? It was the most beautiful thing to watch.
I watched S1 more or less without knowing anything about it back when it aired. The weekly discussions were always so fun, I am glad to be able to continue them now with season 2 :)
It feels like I have waited so long for this but in the space of anime sequels it has been fairly quick all things considered.
Why don't they sell the crystal for money?
they explained it, it was dangerous to carry around because of its magic-nullifying effect.
Let Stark carry it in front of them like 5 meters away?
Would be zero problem and then go to next city and sell.
making your frontliner 5 meters away from you is also dangerous, definitely not a zero problem situation
if you cant walk to a city with him being 5 meters away, then you have bigger problems
He might not always be able to maintain the 5 meter distance. Like in a fight. Stark accidentally comes just a step too close and their magic gets cancelled. It's a recipe for disaster
They could have done it, but it would be a problem ready to happen, even if you have a good plan to deal with. It's stupid to talk about this, that crystal scene was only there to give context to the rest of the episode, and to show once again, that the party holds little value towards money, so little, they couldn't deal with the making of a plan and the down-side of having to carry a big bag of gold in their backs, even if YOU think it would be worth it, they for sure didn't think alike.
its less about the troubles of carrying the thing and more so that they don't care about money, kinda dumb yes but that's just who they are
but they just mentioned before they need money, I would rather make a detour and have enough money to buy a mansion instead of working for the money which also takes time.
Bank accounts don't exist that i know, so would they go around with a bag full of enough gold to buy a mansion? Either way, all you been doing is baiting everyone, you bored or something? It's obvious by this point, why they didn't take it.

Im baiting nothing, it's just a hole in the story, that much should be obvious.
Do you really want to say as argument that too much gold to carry is too heavy?
Then sell the crystal keep what you need and donate the rest, its not that hard.
You're being quite annoying. It's not a plot-hole, but rather something you don't agree with, the author gave you context; "They didn't take it because it was to risky" and you seem to disagree. It being to risky, is all we know, either you like it or not, any other context is just assuming, and that's what you been doing, you don't know how dangerous things will get, how far away they are from a merchant, if the Crystal can be made to have a bigger range, like... I can be here all-day from the other side of your argument, making things up just as you been doing, it's pointless, annoying and stupid, just deal with it. Like, to think that of all the things you could have noticed and choose to talk about plot-holes, you chose this one, tiny, scene.
Not to mention you misunderstand their current situation, they are low on money but not in a critical situation, as Fern said to Stark, she is just planning ahead, making sure they have more than enough.
Was curious on when the phlebotinum of a magic nullifying resource was gonna get introduced; can't have a fantasy world without it. Though it's kinda wild that even a being as broken as Frieren can't escape it's effects... Wonder if we'll see someone weaponize it against her in the future.
All in all some pretty good stuff, love me my feel good show.
LETS GOOOOO FRIEREN IS BACK!!! Frieren Fridays are back!
Even if it's just 10 episode I'm really happy to see this party again.
This ep we get the usual journey vibes and shenanigans which is nice to see. Also focus on Stark with his relationship with the party. Honestly if you somehow didn't ship Stark and Fern before you gotta after this one right?
We also got to reunite with Wirbel already wow. He tried to steal Stark but sorry he's already locked down by Fern lol. He ain't leaving and also they really do need a frontliner.
We also got some more stuff on the world like there's magic nullifying stones. Will it be relevent later? maybe? or it might just a fun thing we only see this episode.
Still just perfect. I could watch a 1000 episodes of this and love it, the vibe of the series is just what I enjoy. Glad to see it pick up right where it left off in every way.
Didn't expect to see the Wirbel party again so soon, now I'm really looking forward to seeing who else we'll run into the next 9 weeks. Praying for Ubel / Land content, love them.
This show makes me unreasonably emotional and I don't know why lol. Shows that bait the emotions don't really get me, but this does for no real reason.
The most beautiful anime of all time is back, and it's as good as ever: Frieren's curiosity, Fern's insecurities, Stark's lack of self-confidence, their unique group, their unique relationship, and above all, everything this masterpiece teaches. It's already moving. It's painful to see that there's only 10 episodes and one is already gone.
Good ep
Calm OP
That crystal really is bright asl.
I really do be questioning how Frieren sleeps in most situations and in the most uncomfortable positions.
Stark carry job for the win. Cool parallel with Himmel and the party.
Love how Stark and Fern are slowly warming up to each other. Feels natural for a lowkey romance.
Bro knows that he enjoy's Fern's headpats. No need to be fake scared, lol.
Once again, the ED was beautifully creative.
S1 adapted to ch 60. This ep adapted ch 61-62 with sum additions.
9/10
It kinda made me think, if a small magic sealing ore like the one Frieren found can buy you a mansion, could the entirety of the ore in the cave earn you enough money to buy the entire world?
Anyway, shower thoughts aside, love to see this back, but only 10 episodes is a real bummer, I gotta savor every single second of this
Slightly more realistically, how could you sell the crystal if you can't move or cut it?
Well that thought more or less just stems from taking the value of one we know and applying it to the greater mass we saw in the cave, disregarding reality such as mining the ore and moving the massive amount, if we were to take this realistically, you couldn't "Buy the world" anyways since statistically somebody would either decide not to sell it or there is land that isn't technically anybody's property or smth. Taking it a step further, if we were to move it and sell it, would the one we sell it to even have the necessary amount of money to buy it? Would the sheer volume of ore that we have decrease its market value, thus decreasing the amount of money we get, unless we say that we sell them in chunks, but even then, the amount in circulation would increase unnaturally.
Soooo...where was I going with this? Yeah realistically speaking, there are way too many variables to say rather or not this is possible
If you take to much, the value decreases, since it's not rare anymore, but the fact that you can't cut it with Magic and Stark couldn't cut it either, just means no one will ever know, it's a useless ore unless it breaks by it self, although, if you hated mages that much, you could buy the land that contains it, and build a whole underground bunker within the crystals.
Episode was a nice reminder of how much I liked Fern and Stark's first genuine conversation and the moments when Fern isn't roasting Stark (not that those momments can't be funny as well lol)
Also a nice reminder of how additive the adaptation feels in smaller scale stories like these really getting to see all the little nuances they add to the characters expressions and movements to convey emotions better particularly with Fern.
I laughed at Stark's reaction to Fern offering him a head pat but also screamed internally for him to just accept the offer lol
Really nice OP and ED as well!
It's incredible how Frieren comes back, releases slightly later than the other Winter Anime and easily claims the top spot amongst them all.
Even with such a stacked season of Anime, Frieren is levels above. It's special.
I was late to the party when Season 1 released and only got around to it about 6 months ago, so the wait wasn't too bad, but this Anime is truly masterful in all aspects. There's not one fault I have against this show/series. Just 1 episode and I'm already feeling lucky and grateful to have it back.
10 Episodes? So what. It's going to be 10 incredible, dare I say masterpiece episodes of Anime.
