Ikoku Nikki #08:
"Wander"

The dam has broken. I love how Makio’s poetic writing is what caused Asa to come to terms with her grief. Best episode. Yet again, I said the same thing about last week’s episode. That seems to be the norm with Ikkoku Nikki. It keeps topping itself every week so far.
Even if the plot does not resonate with you personally, you cannot help but appreciate the feeling poured into this. From the immaculate writing to the amazing direction to the gorgeous score by Kensuke Ushio, everything has been crafted with care and love, and that is what makes Ikkoku Nikki so good week in and week out.
I do not think it is ever possible to truly express how we feel. We all end up censoring ourselves in the end, whether we like it or not. It took 8 episodes for Asa to finally accept her parents’ passing. Thank God someone as mature and composed as Makio is there to give her a hug and a shoulder to lean on.
